Summer drink recipes!

So with summer upon us, I thought I would look to ATOT for some summer drink recipes. I realize there are alot of places to get drink recipes, but many of them call for some exotic type of liquor that you'd hardly ever use. I prefer the drinks that use somewhat common ingredients.

My ideas for a bbq on Friday are below. I'd like to bring a couple of different drinks for people to try out that they may have not tried before. Here's what I've got so far:

Jasper?s Rum Punch
1 1/2oz Your favorite clear white rum
1 1/2oz Jasper?s Secret Mix (3/4oz lime juice, 1/2oz 2:1 simple, 2 dashes Angostura bitters)
cherry, to top
nutmeg, grated on top

Jalapeno-Pear Caipiroska
2 oz. Absolut Pears vodka
1 oz. honey syrup
1 lime, quartered
2-3 jalapeno slices
ice

Muddle (mash together) the lime and jalapeno in the shaker. Add the remaining ingredients and shake well. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice and enjoy.

Gingered Rum Old Fashioned
2 oz Your favorite dark rum
0.25 oz Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 dash Angostura orange bitters

Drink I made up:
1 Pineapple juice
1.5 domaine de canton
.5 part triple sec
1 part vodka

Depending on the love of ginger, you can modify and add a bit more domaine, or less pineapple juice.

stir with ice, strain and serve in a chilled glass

I make mine heavier on the whiskey.

Edit: Forgot the triple sec.
I swear I haven't already started drinking!

Try mixing that Malibu with some POG. (either pineapple, orange, guava juices or passionfruit, orange, guava juices...I like both)

It's a nice cool way to catch a gentle buzz, and it works well with the coconut.

I also like margaritas...had watermelon margaritas last night, and pina coladas...

Then again, whiskey on ice is good too...

I never did figure out how the hell they managed to ferment motor oil...which is what gin tastes like to me.

I like tequila and grapefruit. Really quenches the thirst on a hot day...

the sazerac, possibly america's original cocktail:

1 1/2 oz rye
1/4 oz absinthe
3 dashes peychaud's bitters
1 sugar cube
twist

use ice to chill one glass
muddle the sugar cube with the bitters in another glass. add the rye to that, then the ice. swirl the absinthe in the chilled glass, then discard excess (though it tastes pretty good in the drink). add the rye mixture into the absinthe-coated glass. garnish with the twist.




old fashioned is also good in the summer





i had a drink at a pub in cambridge, england, that had gin, lemon vodka, sprite, sliced lemon, and (i think) grenadine. or maybe it was rum instead of gin? all mixed in a big pitcher full of ice. unfortunately i believe the place is closed as i don't see a likely place on google street view. i think the strada near trinity college is where that pub was.
