Except I never said that. I would like a job in some field that pays decent for it being temporary/part-time.

No, but you might as well have. As for your edit on me posting about being a homosexual, I never started a thread about "I'm looking for a straight person for a relationship" so your edit has no meaning other than to try to smear me into something I have said nothing about. But carry on...whining about not getting a $50.00 per hour part time job (while eating Cheetos on your PC in your mom's basement).

If I get asked, "Why do you want to work at Ross", how can I be honest and not brutally candid?

Because, I assume, you wanted a paycheck?

There's no way to not be candid when you're trying to say, "it's indoors, easy, and that's it."

Look, everyone knows the reason people really want jobs boils down to one simple fact: to get a paycheck. People aren't stupid. When they ask "Why do you want to work here?," they're asking for a couple of different reasons:

1. They want to see if you've researched the company -- throw in facts and figures you've learned to impress them.

2. Your answer will likely tell them what kind of employee you are -- if "I need a paycheck" is the best you come up with, that's going to be a huge red flag. Companies want to hear employees who are in it for more than JUST a paycheck, because you can get that anywhere. If you say "I don't know," why on earth would they hire you? Do you think that response makes you an attractive employee?

3. And yes, some of it is about seeing if you can be diplomatic and tactful.

But I am not a liar. I am just in it for a paycheck. That's it.

Then don't come back here whining and crying about how no one will hire you. It isn't lying to list some positive reasons about why you would want to work somewhere.

Let's say you're interviewing for Best Buy and they ask "Why do you want to work here?" A proper answer is: "I enjoy the consumer electronics industry and am passionate about computers, and I'd like to work for an industry leader like Best Buy." Nothing there is a lie -- you may not like Best Buy but they are, in fact, an industry leader.

But for Ross? Dress for less? What am I going to say to that?

It isn't rocket science. Before an interview, research the company and find some positives about it and also, research common answers to questions like that. It could be as simple as "From my research, Ross is a leader because of X, Y, Z and from my conversation with other employees, is a great employer."

She did ask me if I did research the company but I pretty much said no. I mean, why would I have any interest in Ross the company? Who the fuck cares.

"i am interested in becoming more fashion concious and since Ross does sell top fashion for less than retail, i would be interested in what consumers are purchasing"

Then why apply there? If you don't give a shit, it will show and no one will hire you.

What point is that, exactly? Intentionally answering common interview questions with responses that won't get you hired will, in fact, not get you hired?

That even if I get an apply and get an interview that I won't get the job. I can't help it that I am honest. It's one of my character flaws, at least in our society.

You're in college at the moment and need a job during the summer. You need the money to assist with funding yourself through college. You also need to add experience to your resume.

Bam. An answer to that question that sounds great.

Giving them a POSITIVE reason as to why you want to work for them is NOT lying at all.

And, LOL at the bolded. Do you SERIOUSLY think that you will get EVERY job you interview for? LOL!

There is no positive reason besides it's indoors and I can't do outdoor jobs. (Pollen allergies) I mean, there really isn't. What Leros said is about as positive as it gets but at the same time... it screams, "I'm temporary and only in it for the check."

No? I don't think I'll get the job at any place. That's the whole point of this thread. I don't have the experience or the fakeness to do such. Until I get a serious skillset worked up (like knowing Java, PHP+MySQL, C++, and Perl) and have done a few projects with them... I won't have much reason to be employed. By the time I graduate with a Masters in CS though... I'll have those things down easy and plenty of projects done. Also, it's likely I'll have at least two internships by then... and it won't be too difficult to get those if I show my projects and expertise.

Give me a break. All you do here is bullshit and lie. You didn't want the job, period. I'm still not sure why you decided to dress up and go to the interview. All you did was waste someone's valuable time. 12 hrs/week is more than 0 which is your preference. I still can't believe you've never had a job. I remember you saying how your world was about money or something like that. Too bad, you need to work to get it unless you meant leaching off your parents and the government. I've had jobs going back to middle school, played on sports teams and still got better grades than you. Enough with your pathetic excuses.

Have you moved back to your parent's basement already? What makes you think you'll be able to get any kind of job with your inability to even get a retail job? Why even continue to go to school? Just leach off your parents like your brother.

Sadly, there are mentally retarded people that are able to get employment with Ross and you can't.

Giving you advice is useless b/c you won't take it. And you take some sick pride in failing and telling people here about it.

Brother moved out quite a while ago, lol. He married some new girl and managed to leech off her I think. (He has some low standards)

You can say the same about Goodwilll too bro.

So? If it gets you the job, who cares? You're not there for a career, you're there for a paycheck and documented work experience (trust me, for a fresh grad, ANY work experience helps).

You need to get over the idea that learning a bunch of languages has value. Very few people care what languages you know.
