Linksys is cr&p, I have a LNE100TX, and it works but only w/ 95/98/nt. I bought 4 of these cards for a network, tried to upgrade to w2k only to find out that they have no driver support for my card. Yes if you goto their site they list many drivers but they don't work. Save your money for a descent 3com nic.

Well, there is a good OD price match going on. They carry the maxtor 15GB 7200 for $129.99. After BB pricematch I just got it at OD for $83.49 + tax. As always your pricematch mileage will vary.

Never had a problem with the LNE100TX Cards or any card by Linksys. I use Win2K and BeOS. Also, use a linux box with Mandrake on it and none of the OS's had a problem with the cards. Didn't even need to get updated drivers from websites. My linksys cars are revision 1.0. Don't know about 2.0 though.

You can pricematch the best buy 30 gigger(169.99) at staples(179.99)
and still use the coupon. You'd have to call it in though.

Hey...CMV, These CD's are the biggest piece of junk I've ever used. They screth so easily. They are only good for a one time use then you throw them out.

Linksys has sold _six_ different cards under the LNE100TX part number, supported by four different sets of drivers. To the best of my knowledge, none of these are ne2000 compatible. This can be verified here ---> http://www.linksys.com/download/default.asp by selecting "LNE100TX - EtherFast 10/100 LAN Card" from the dropdown list.

The version of this card that I have works fine, and is supported by DOS, Linux, and Windoze 9x/NT/2000.

I much prefer the D-LINK DFE-530TX, however. The card is comparably priced to the Linksys (though not as good as the deal cited in this thread), and uses the same set of drivers and chip architecture today as the first one of these I bought two years ago. They're also supported by DOS, Linux, and Windoze 9x/NT/2000.

IMNSHO, there's no need to "waste" money on a 3Com PCI NIC when significantly cheaper alternatives have equal operating system support and yield the same or better performance.

In response to my earlier post. I was able to go to a local Staples store in my hometown and get the deal I described above. I tol dthem I was shopping online and wanted to see it I could go through them. They had no problems with it.
I went to staples.com and selected the 30 gig maxtor, used the coupon and went up to the review order screen which shows my purchase and the coupon being taken off. I then wen tto the local store and pricematched theeir maxtor with teh one on sale at Best Buy and then got the $30 dollars off. So I pretty much did the same thing you coulda done over the phone but instead I got my drive drive RIGHT NOW.

148.99 for 30 gig 7200 rpm ata 66 maxtor---> what a deal!

the OD nics are not LNE100TX but actually NC100 which are a part of their www.networkeverywhere.com line. does anybody recommend this particular nic? basically, reading from the box the only thing different is that it doesnt have WOL.

The 100 pack CDR's are crap. Don't put anything on them you want to keep. Think of them as diposable music CD's(if they make it to a player). For nonsensitive data with a good backup they are OK.

I got the 15 gig Maxtor for $83.50 with the pricematch. After I thought about it I returned it in exchange for the 20 gig Maxtor after paying the $10 price difference.

I picked up 3 of these NIC cards at Office Depot. No problems here. It was such a good price and I was so excited that I forget to get the darn patch cables that were to come with it. If I didnt make my own I would be mad at myself...
