Never really bought sunglasses before, with the exception of the el cheapo #12.95 pair from the tower at the gas station, lol.

Anyway, looking to grab a pair for this summer. What other brands are there to look at, other than Oakley (all I know). Not looking forward to spending over $100 on a pair, for what that's worth.

I like these and these (EEK! at the price on the wire frames)..

Thanks.

Smith, Native, Ray-Ban, arnette, dragon optics, Revo

i have these: http://oakley.com/pd/4809 but don't suggest them unless you have a slightly larger than average head, as they tend to slide off mine when i tilt my head forward to violently.

Oakley used to have great customer service with lifetime warranties. I have trouble justifying their prices now.

Although, they are fixing my square wire 2.0's and replacing hte lenses for 50 bucks. Most of the time when you send in for repairs, they just give you a new pair. At least thats how it used to be. We'll see what happens when I get these back.

Go with Maui Jim's - best lens in the business. When my Lasik was finished and I was looking for some sunglasses, everyone I asked recommended them.

I have the glass polarized "Papa G"'s from Von Zipper. Great quality glasses that look good.

I've got a few pairs of $20-$40 sunglasses, a pair of Oakleys, and a pair of Ray-Bans. Out of all of them, I like the Ray Bans the best.

Another vote for Maui Jim's. Once I bought my first pair, I've never been temped to buy anything else.

I love my sunglasses; they came free with my eye appointment. They pinch the side of my head, but I can roll them up neatly and store them in a money clip.

I've been a Maui Jim devotee since I was in high school - as far as a pair of lenses to wear when you're fishing, either offshore or backcountry, I don't think you can find higher quality glass lenses that are polarized. Their quartz coating is awesome, extremely scratch resistant.

My only beef with them is the weight, which will of course vary according to style.

The only other brand which has impressed me as much is Kaenon - strong and light weight, and they produce the best polarized polymer lenses you can find. I've found both companies to have exemplary customer service as well.

Costa del Mars are also nice, although a tad... conventional. Great glasses for the money though, they have a huge following for a reason. Revo loves to harp on how they supply lenses to NASA, but I've never really too impressed with their line. Expensive too.

Edit: Forgot to mention, do yourself a favor and get polarized lenses whatever you decide on.

Go with a polarized lens. Yes they are more expensive but they are great for driving. much less eye-strain.

I like Bolle, they are light, comfortable and cheap as sunglasses are often lost or broken.

I hear Maui Jim's are good. Also consider polarized and photochromatic lens.

They really do have amazing lenses. Seven layers? I didn't really try the other expensive stuff, but after buying 2 el-cheapo pairs and returning them, Maui Jim's were a great relief. Glare and reflection is almost non-existant on mine, and having worn glasses for the last 8 years, I'm crazy about lens quality.

I'm an Oakley fan, I wear the Juliets and also have a pair of Half Jackets with a few different sets of lenses. (both of these models allow you to switch lenses easily)
I've never found a frame more comfortable than the Juliets, but of course this is a personal preference. And I don't care about the price, but others do.
