To be blunt, I'm doing this because my Dad is dying and I need to stay in touch with my Mom while I travel to Europe, both for support and 'just in case'.

So ANYTHING that would help would be useful. I don't know what 'softphone' is for SR. So yes, PM if necessary. Hmmm - not sure what you need to PM me through this forum. Well, hell, check out the website in my sig and you'll be able to contact me!!!

Thanks so much.

As for faxing support: It is actually quite good, at least if you have the old gizmo (not sure about the new Innomedia, which I don't have.) However, for that you have to go into your gizmo settings and make a few fax-friendly changes. Basically 3 changes: Change jitter buffer to "fixed" and set it to 100. Turn Silence Suppression to ON. Also, turn T.38 faxing off (under SIP settings.) Try these changes and attempt a fax. What is your fax hardware, btw? You may have to tweak the settings on the fax machine itself as well, such as bringing the baud rate down to the lowest possible.

To do this, however, I think you need the admin password for the gizmo. Anyone know what it is?

I couldn't find an answer to this question. Does anyone have the admin password for the Gizmo?

I have the AC-211N-SR gizmo. My POTS number should be transferred to SunRocket on 7/21. At that time, I want to set up the original SunRocket number as a dedicated fax line with distinctive ring. My fax machine (Panasonic KX-FP270 plain paper fax/copier) is supposed to support this.

Thanks in advance.

Update:

According to mrjlturner at www.sunrocketforum.com:

Posted: Mon Jul 17, 2006 5:58 pm Post subject: Telco's AC-211n

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I haven't found the outside interface password yet...the internal interface password is 'welcome' as noted in the included instructions. I am having issues with it not ringing a GE 2.4 gHz set with REN of 0.0b. Anyone else having this issue? I have two phones with a REN of 0.4b and they ring fine. 3rd level support has yet to get back with me. I've had a call open with them since 7/12/06 on this matter with the new AC-211n. I did read another post somewhere else that it's big brother the AC-211 had problems with some phones & their ringer capabilities. I hope I don't have to go buy new phones!

nuzzy wrote:
I received the AC-211N-SR on 7/11. Seems OK except that lately my Phone 1 line has been going down. I've missed a couple of call because of it (straight to VM).

Any idea how to get to the admin panel?

With SunRocket I can send outgoing faxes with no problem, but my fax machine (Lexmark 4 in 1) doesn't want to answer the double ring I have it set for receiving faxes.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Yesterday, I tried sending a fax to my Panasonic KX-FP270 plain paper fax/copier from several different fax machines at several different locations. So far, it's not working. The LCD display says "Connecting...," then the call is terminated. The fax manual describes this problem and says that it occurs when the incoming call is not a facsimile transmission.

I sent an email to SunRocket member services yesterday afternoon. No response as yet. I'll try borrowing another fax machine to see if it's a compatibility issue, but I don't think it is. I think it is the Gizmo settings that Georgepa described in the first attached post. Wish I could try them out...

I sent you a PM with some info yesterday. Did you have a chance to read it?

georgepa and dteague,

I just got both of your PMs. Thank you. I will try your suggestions when I get home tonight.

Also, before I read either PM, I decided to call SR support for help - what a night and day difference from a week ago!

Within 2 minutes I got through to a person who could speak English clearly, was pleasant and eager to help, appeared to understand the problem, and offered to push through a firmware upgrade to my Gizmo to solve it.

If I succeed in getting the fax set up tonight and my number transfer happens according to plan on Friday, I may actually be making a few referrals.

Thanks again to both of you.

Hmm, they must have made the switch from the Phillipine tech center to the one based in Missouri with seasoned phone call center pros. Awesome move, IMO.

The info about their new call center is here:

Still not able to receive a fax here. SR said it would push an update to my Gizmo, but so far the version hasn't changed.

Module Type: 211N
Interfaces: 2 ports FXS phone
2 ports 10/100Base-T/TX

System Uptime: 0 days, 0h 8m 33s
System Real Time: Jul 20 20:59:58
Security: Password installed
Application Code Version: SIP version 4.60 US (APP 35 )
Downloader Code Version: 4.60 US (LDR 35 )
CPU Hw Version: 20

Tried a couple of other passwords to get into the Gizmo and make the appropriate changes to the settings, but only "welcome" works, and that won't let you change anything.

Thanks again to the members who have offered suggestions via PM. I have tried them all, without success, but I would be very grateful for additional suggestions.

I'll let you know if I ever manage to get it to work.

I apparently praised SR too quickly. The promised update to my gizmo still hasn't arrived. I still can't receive faxes. My POTS line did get ported successfully, though.

SR's reward section is pretty attractive right now, better than the last couple of months. If you have 25 pts. you can now turn them into:

$25 Amazon.com Gift Card

GE 5.8GHz Extension Handset

$25 TGI Friday's (Restaurant) Gift Card

$25 Target Gift Card

$25 Home Depot Gift Card

I've been stuck at 20 points forever - since I don't tend to do referrals, and thats what they gave a lot of people when there were outages.

hmm...i bought a new router and i'm finally able to put the gizmo behind it. everything's working fine.

now, i can't seem to log into my gizmo.

i tried 182.168.251.1, but that doesn't show up. i checked the router's DHCP tables and i only see my desktop logged in. weird, because the gizmo is running fine. any thoughts?

If it's behind your router, it has an address assigned by your router - you need to figure out what that is. Or - disconnect it from your router and plug it directly in to your computer. Then the 192.168.251.1 should work - unless you changed those settings.

i forgot that i had cloned my desktop's MAC address on my gizmo. that also explains why when i was getting calls, my internet connection was all weird: two of the same mac addresses in two different ports

i disabled the MAC address cloning on my gizmo (after hooking it up directly to my PC) and now everything works like a charm! didn't even need to put my gizmo in the DMZ of my router.

very nice

DeninMI-

It appears that you have Telco's 211-N box, which is brandnew. When I sent you the PM I was under the impression that you had Telco's AC-211, so the info that was listed there was in reference to that box.

Fax: Can you fax out, but not receive?

georgepa,

Weirdly enough, although there was no apparent change in firmware, my fax just started working today. I can now send and receive faxes.

I'd still like to be able to access the firmware of the Telco AC-211N, but it's no longer a necessity.

An SR tech support person told me that the firmware upgrade was sent on the 19th and that sometimes it takes awhile to register. That sounds unusual, but it's working, so who's complaining?

Thanks again to all who helped.

Current reward point redemption:

Add $25 American Express Gift Cheque's to the list. 25 pts. for a $25 check. Probably the best way to redeem any SR points, same as cash.

And as we all know from the Aflack Commercial, "That's almost the same as money."

"Day late and a dollar short" for me. I spent three months via email with the CS morons trying to get my phone number transfered to my SunRocket, and as a last ditch effort spend several hours with them on the phone. The email "support" was a joke ... pasted in english as a 2nd language scripts that didn't address what was in my email at all. When I finally got them and Verizon on the phone together, and SunRocket refused to talk to them ... that was the end. Cancled my account.

Technically, it worked just fine. But the three+ months I spend paying for a 2nd POTS line I didn't really need erased anything I would ever save with them.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I'd be pissed, too. But number porting is most often the fault of the previous carrier, not SunRocket. Sorry you had a bad experience... think about it a while and you might come back. I'm in my second year now and it has really been worth the few quirks I've dealt with.

I'm having a helluva problem. For no apparent reason, my Gizmo isn't working . I get the power and WAN lights, but no Run or VoIP at any point. Did all of the power cycles, in front of and behind the router. Not a damn thing works. Was fine for 3 months, now nothing for some reason. I can't get into the Gizmo settings either. Any tips? I'm thinking you get what you pay for, huh?
