The "no taxes," doesn't seem quite correct as someone recenctly cut and pasted a section from SunRocket that indicated that they will start charging FUSF fees. So much for no tax, call 'em what you want...they be tax. They say they'll charge it at year end... I wonder if the "no tax" deal that many have signed on now, in fact, is taxable.
But it is correct. The question was about the current deals. Right now there are no taxes on the deal. They are coming, but you can get around them by signing up NOW. So, no, you don't have to wonder. Those of us who signed onto a "no tax" deal don't have to worry about taxes until renewal. In my case that is until May 2009.

Federal Universal Service Fund Charge
On October 1, 2006, sunrocket will begin charging the Federal Universal Service Fund (usf) charge per the Federal Communications Commission. The usf charge will be applied to monthly invoices for all sunrocket monthly plans. Annual plan members will be assessed this charge at their renewal. For more information about the usf charge, please visit »

I would imagine you can get around the tax by signing on before October 1. SR may just have a pre-tax sale (Get into a deal before taxes are added) so you may want to wait until the last moment.
Of course, those of who are on 2 yr. $199 deals or 1 yr. $99 deals are tax exempt until the deals run out. If they have 2 yr. $199 deals AFTER the tax goes into effect, we are looking at around $0.54 per month more, not exactly bank-breaking.
