SunRocket VoIP *Everybody is reporting that this is DEAD!* (Free phones, extra number, etc.)

I heard a rumor about that the other day too. People were also saying that they might get bought out / absorbed by a different company but still keep the service alive. I just wish ViaTalk and SunRocket and any other tiny places could join up and take out Vonage since they gouge their customers. But they are the only one advertising so most people think they are the only choice out there.

Skype has some limitations like you can't port your number and such right? I haven't looked into it for quite a while.

I think as a company they've got to continue the business. After receiving 80MM in funding only getting 200K of subscribers is the sucky part. So whomever buys is getting the 80MM debt and a grumpy investors who wants his ball back .

As I said I would cash those rewards as quick as possible. If you wait until the acquisition you may get the birdy or you may end up with getting some of the value e.g. 1 SR reward point = 0.5 vonage point (if vonage to buy SR).

So, I paid $200 upfront seven months ago & am screwed out of the remainder of my contract I guess. Still, $400 for 19 months of service (or did I get on for $100 my first year?) ended up being a decent deal for local & long distance.

Sunrocket is DEAD no more me and all other Sunrocket user out there is doomed. This remind me of the Cyberwings web hosting company a few year ago! Which many of us got screwed by Cyberwings.

Ha, ha - what about Cyberrebate? I lost out on a $300 rebate I had coming. But I did manage to buy about $300 worth of stuff for which I did get rebates & I wrote this off on my taxes after they went bankrupt.

Darn, they just charged me the 1 year up-front payment at the end of April. Called my CC and started a dispute today, if that goes through, I'll be somewhat happy. 2 years from these guys at pretty good prices - still saved me a lot of $ over QWorst. I think the best option for me is Comcast right now, they give you 1 year of DTV/Internet/phone for $100/month. I already pay them $100/month for Internet and HDTV, so this will not cost me anything extra for 1 year, even better! Just have to find out what their international rates are like, or whether I should just use Skype for that.

Edit: Ugh, I just took a look at Comcast's international rates, they suck. Skype it is.

I have been using VoicePulse for a couple years now. Service has been exellent, it is not expensive, and still works AFAIK. Give 'em a try.

I just switched to Vonage (heard they are the fastest on porting) and hopefully everything will go smoothly. They have a deal right now that all current SunRocket user will get 2 free months, and also free overnight shipping on their equipment, and waived activation fee.

I then called my Chase Visa and disputed the charge (joined Sunrocket on 3/30/07), and they are credit me back around $180 (pro-rate) to my credit card, so I think I come out ok.
