New (well, maybe not new but just as good as the old)- 15 months instead of a year for $199 = $13.27 per month.

Unlimited Nationwide Calling. Stay in touch the whole year through and never worry about the cost!

FREE International Minutes. Get $3.00 of International calling to any destination included every month. With SunRocket's rock-bottom rates, that's 30 minutes or more to 75 countries!

FREE extra phone number. Choose an extra phone number complete with its own distinctive ring, feature settings, and Voicemail box.

Complete set of built-in features. Web-Enhanced Voicemail, Call Logs, Call Waiting, Caller ID, and more!

SunRocket's 800 # = 800-786-0132 (You can sign up here.)

FREE Directory Assistance calls. Two Directory Assistance calls each month.
SR just keep getting hotter (IMH0). <blockquote>quote:
Now (as before) with
1. two cordless phones & the
2. second # can be a completely different area code &
3. Rewards program! (Plus all of the above!)</blockquote>
All the necessary equipment. The Gift Edition box comes packed with everything needed to begin making calls.

Secure WWW link to sign up.

I am very pleased with the two FREE Uniden DCT646-2 phones (the set). - New phones are apparently 5.8Mhz

PS #1 If you have problems, post to this thread & get help.
PS #2 You'll need High Speed Internet service. (i.e. DSL{can be naked} or Cable HSI)
PS #3 Two year deal is for new customers only...Occasionally, there is an additional year for $99 for current customers -
- You have to ask for the new 2yr deal!

Here is the link to the previous 3000 posts. (Apparently, this link has been deactivated by the mods.)

Well, now I'm finally signed up, can log into member services, got my phones, and got my gizmo. Hooked up the gizmo the night before last and no voice light. Went into my router and saw the IP the gizmo was getting. Dropped it in the DMZ and rebooted cable, router, and gizmo in that order. Still no voice light. Unplugged it for a few hours and replugged. Got a voice light - made a call to Sunrocket. Success! Called my cell phone and it was coming from a Virginia number. I called that number back and sure enough, it rang at my house - way weird. I'm in Florida!

I was too busy to mess with it any longer so I didn't worry about it. Got up this morning and no voice light once again. Unplugged it for 30 minutes and replugged. No voice light.

SunRocket's latest nationwide outage

I wouldn't even consider it, until they've be stable for a substantial period of time.

Looks like their great prices are out stripping their ability to seamlessly upgrade / expand their system.

Go for it, if you can tolerate being on the bleeding edge.
Too much down time / frustration / headaches, so far, IMHO.

Robor, glad to hear you got your Gizmo! Hope you get the thing working and underway finally!!

Strange to see a new thread. Don't have to click to page 147 to post anymore.

Re: ReplayTV. I have a DVR with my digital cable, and there's no conflicts or problems with either my SunRocket or DVR to date. Coming up on one year with the service.

That's good to hear about the ReplayTV. Is there any way to get the 15 month promotion w/ phones w/o calling customer service? Thanks.

I am not able to check the old post to see if my issue ever got a reply, so I'll report it here.

So far we have had SR for about a week. Ongoing issues with dropped calls, or calls where we can hear the person, but they can't hear us. Also, sometimes it just doesn't work. I haven't figured out why... I have comcast cable internet, and that modem has all it's lights lit. The Gizmo shows all lights lit except VIOP. I can't get a dial tone or get online. When I unplug everything and let it reset that usually fixes it.

Robor, you picked a great day to begin service, as this is the email I got this afternoon:

Dear DOOZERM,

Thank you for sending us an email.

SunRocket is currently experiencing a service disruption in certain areas. This issue is causing a limited number of customers not be able to register, some are unable to receive inbound calls and make outbound calls early this morning, March 29. A recent network upgrade caused some some customers to be unable to receive calls, however calls should have been able to reach Voicemail.

As per update at 02:50 PM Eastern time, all SunRocket customers should be able to make outbound calls and receive incoming calls. This issue has been resolved. Registrations are all back to normal.

Thank you for your patience as we work through this issue. If you have any other questions or concerns about your SunRocket service, please call us any day of the week at 1-800-786-0132, 7am to Midnight ET. We also welcome your emails at memberservices@SunRocket.com.

Best regards,

I've had them for 13 months & just renewed for another 13...

Sure, not perfect, but none of the voips are. Fact is for more service features than I was getting from verizon, my landline bill went from around $90 with Verizon to around $15 for Sunrocket. Saves me almost a grand a year... I'd say thats worth a few service hiccups.

Also, another question: Does Sunrocket have an option to auto forward my calls if the system is down? I know vonage and some others have it, I can't seem to find it on SR.

Not too worried about that -- with VOIP, if I have 90-95% uptime I'm unbelievably happy. Thats what I have a cell phone for.

FYI, their cust svc folks seem to be good as well. AZoomee = happy customer.

Hankysmoo-

Re: 15 months promo with phones: There is no link for the double-dip one can get when calling the SALES department. In fact, even calling them does not always result in the 15 months + phones deal. Some have reported having to call 3 of 4 times to get it. From other posts a successful procedure seems to be: You call their sales dept. and tell them you want to sign up. The current deal on their web site has the 2 phones, no extra 3 months. So, you'll say: "Well, other people got the phones and 15 months." He'll say something like: "The 15 months deal was a couple of weeks ago." Then you say: "I understand, but I know several people who got the extra 3 months and the phones. I'll go for it right now if you give me that, too." Most likely he'll say: "Sure." If he does not, have him check with his supervisor. Usually when they return from the check they'll do it. One SR rep told a new signup that they'll throw in the extra value to "close the deal," which means to say that if they get the impression the person is not sure about ordering. So, put on your poker voices, don't let on that you are too eager.

GprophetB-

When you say "outside our network" what exactly does that mean? Is the VOIP adapter attached to a network in a business environment or are you talking about your home network? And are you getting calls "inside your network"? I guess we need a little more info on how exactly you are connecting. Generally speaking, reboot all your devices (DSL modem first, then router, then phone adapter) and have the phone adapter AFTER the router. Make sure the VOIP light comes on, and you should have dialtone. Don't worry about IP and DMZ at this point, unless there are specific blocks built into your system that disallow port 5060.

Project86-

Can you try behind a router? I've read about issues with Comcast specifically when the old gizmo adapter was directly connected to the Comcast adapter. Putting the adapter behind a router fixed the issue. Do you have a router to try?

Also, run a couple of tests and report your findings here:

http://www.testyourvoip.com/

Most people use Boston to test VOIP speed.

plus

http://www.dslreports.com/stest

Probably want to choose the speakeasy test. Look for values for incoming and outgoing bandwidth.

Got my gizmo and phones. Followed their instruction and put the gizmo between the modem and router and it works very well. Very good sound and satisfied with it.

Well, I got home last night from work and still no VOIP light. I unplugged for about 15 seconds and replugged and disco! VOIP green! Still have my CallerID as a Virginia number though. No biggie there - I'm assuming when my primary number is ported over that will be fixed. I might call and see if they can put me on a local number just so my friends and family don't think I'm a spammer from VA when I call.

I had mine in front of my router for a while and it worked well, and then one day I got a bit of internet problems so I switched to behind and its been great since then. I would take a gander that putting the gizmo behind the router is preferable if it works. Is that safe to assume?

And I lift my glass to celebrate the rebirth of this conversation.

Well, as a refresher, here are the current Sunrocket deals (as of 3-30-2006)

1. BEST DEAL: UNLIMITED MINUTES $199 FOR 15 MONTHS WITH 2 UNIDEN CORDLESS SPEAKERPHONES

Calling into SR and speaking with the SALES department usually nets a doubling of goodies. Just make it sound like you are still unsure about getting Sunrocket, and they WILL give you BOTH the phones AND the extra 3 months.

So, that deal is:

CALL-IN-ONLY:

$199 for 15 months of unlimited service to the US, Canada, Puerto Rico with 2 free Uniden Cordless Speakerphones. That deal includes 2 incoming numbers, each with their own voicemail box, $3 of international call allowance, lots of features, which can be viewed in Supernet33's sticky. That deal works out to $13.27 per month. SR has no startup or setup fees, $199 is all you pay for 15 months of service. Remember also that the $199 is not a contract. SR has no cancellation fees and if someone wanted to cancel in the middle of the year they would get a pro-rated refund of the unused portion of their $199.

2. WEBSITE SIGNON:

If you decide to sign on via the website, the deals are EITHER, OR. You get either 3 free months or the 2 Uniden phones:

Links:

$199 for 15 months (3 free months) :

Sunrocket Signup - $199 for all-inclusive service for 15 months

$199 for 12 months with 2 Uniden Cordless Speakerphones:

$199 for 12 months w. 2 Uniden phones

Same features as the 15 month deal. The phones have about a $60 value. Take this deal over the first one ONLY if you really needed new phones anyway.

3. $199 FOR 12 MONTHS FOR UNLIMITED SERVICE WITH $100 INTERNATIONAL CALLING CARD

$199 for 12 months of unlimited service, comes with a $100 international calling card. Again, all the same features as the two deals mentioned above. This deal includes a $100 call allowance to international destinations, which comes out to $8.33 allowed per month. Take this deal ONLY if you have international calling needs that are higher than the $3 international call allowance already included in the first deal. If a caller uses all of the international minutes that are included in this deal he can bring his monthly service cost way down, essentially to half-price.

$199/yr. plan with $100 international calling credit

4. $19.95 MONTHLY PLAN with UNLIMITED MINUTES, 2 UNIDEN PHONES INCLUDED

$19.95 month-to-month for unlimited service. Those who are hesitant to pay $199 upfront can use promo code WBFOGQ to bring monthly cost down to $19.95 per month for unlimited minutes, a $3 int'l call allowance, a free signature number, free phone adapter, no setup fees or shipping cost. This deal also includes the 2 free Uniden cordless speaker phones.

Signup link:

$19.95 per month for unlimited service, includes 2 Uniden phones

5. $9.95 200 LD MINUTES LIMITED MONTHLY SERVICE, 2 FREE UNIDEN PHONES INCLUDED

$9.95 per month for limited service: 200 long distance minutes included, incoming calls unlimited, SR to SR calls unlimited, all full-service features included except second number and voicemail (both are an extra $3 each per month.) Includes the 2 free Uniden phones, but comes with a $40 equipment fee. The LD minutes can be used not just in the US but in 41 international countries/destinations.

Signup link:

$9.95 for 200 LD minutes plan, 2 phones included

I wonder if you can get 15 months plus two more phones if you are renewing? I just renewed last month. Wonder if I called and asked where my 2 free phones are if I would get someone to send them to me.

Try it. I'll bet you either get the phones or 50 reward points. Keep trying a few CSR's but if you say you were supposed to get them and didn't, you will.

Just for the record, I don't think there's any doubt that the Gizmo should be installed after the router, just like your LAN.
I would hate to think I had to pipe all of my WAN traffic through the Gizmo...think about it.

Good = Modem > Router > LAN/Gizmo
????? = Modem > Gizmo > Router > LAN???? :frown::frown::frown:
