So... I put in for a number transfer from Vonage shortly after I was billed by Vonage one month. Since then, I have been charged twice more by Vonage while I am waiting.

What the heck is taking so long? It seems to slowly be transferring - My calls now come to my SunRocket line. But I still have a dial tone on the Vonage line.

Pull SunRocket's chain.

I've asked about it once - and they reiterated that it takes up to 30 BUSINESS DAYS. But it has definitely been over that now. I''ll try again.

Germany is behind the times when it comes to broadband. My sister and brother-in-law were just here for a visit. They live in Germany and envy our "all-you-can eat" always-on broadband connection. They pay according to MB usage, it is very expensive. You have to worry about browsing the internet, as each page costs you money. I am not sure about hotels, but since broadband is expensive for the regular consumer I can't imagine that they have hotels with broadband included free as part of your room rate. Perhaps available at an additional cost, though.

The US team is currently ranked 5th in the world, it's highest ranking ever. A bit high, because the US does not face a lot of decent middle-tier European or South American teams on a constant basis, but still a good showing. They are in a tough group, but anything is possible.

If your calls now come into the Sunrocket phone you may have to call Vonage to disconnect you. Usually accounts automatically close upon porting a number out, but with Vonage I have read where they dropped the ball on it and maintained your account, even though it was actually already cancelled.

Hmmm... If that is true, should I have my credit card company challenge their last bill?

Bah, having an outage here this morning. (WI). I wish they'd email me about an outage isntead of me figuring out my phone isn't working and having to call in for the automated message...

You say you're having an outtage. Where are you located?

We haven't had a problem in Delaware in as long as I can remember.

We also had an outage today in Ohio. Not a good time for that since I am up for renewal. Hopefully they will have a 2yr for 199 Memorial Day special.

I also started SunRocket in August of 2005. Very satisfied customer. This is the greatest deal on any utility you'll ever get. I just called in for the $99 renewal thr Aug 07.. sweet! Learned about SR here on anandtech forums, what a great community. When I called in a lady in the Phillipines answered & set me up for the extension. Seems all customer service is overseas nowadays. She was polite & spoke good English.

Hurry, 1 hour left at 99 rate.
Cheers,
Philip
Los Angeles

ps a friend with Skype doesn't know what he's missing.. his calls have terrible sound quality. SR is great.

Well, I just called and ended up canceling my account with SunRocket.

I had called to hoped to get in on the $99 promo. I called before 2p and after 15 minutes on hold got ahold of someone, and they told me that because they had given me free phones back in September, they would not give me the promo.

They would not budge, so I deceided to cancel, so they tranfered me to the cancelation department, and they would not budge on it, so I cancelled my account.

Maybe come Labor Day they will have another deal.

I was not real impressed with the people I talked to. They pretty much seemed like the people I talked to had no authority to do anything.

Good to know, George. I won't hold my hopes too high then. Still going to take my gizmo with me, you never know.

And the US looked pretty good Friday and Sunday in those two warm-ups. Hope they play as well in Germany!

Maybe too late in your case, but in my recent experience (last 2 months) it seems that you are ALWAYS better off calling SR SALES. They are located in Canada, easy to understand, and are usually extremely forthcoming. I think they have much more authorization as far as deals are concerned than SRs Phillipine-based Member services area. Now, as an existing SR customer from your SR phone you have to hide your Caller ID (by dialing *67 before dialing SRs 1-800#) to get the option SALES. Then you can talk to knowledgeable staff that can give you good deals to earn you or retain you as a customer.

I would probably call them and tell them about what happened. They may be able to help you with a good deal.

I just signed up for the $99.00 deal May 29 2006 and have never used voip before. I was told the if you are downloading large files when you are on the phone you will have poor quality sound. Is this true? I almost feel like backing out oy the deal but probably won't.

Also running multiple computers is a concern to me, does any have any problems doing this?
I was told that they need 180 kbs up stream and 380 kbs down, it this about right?

thanks for any input.

I was having this problem...but I fixed it by setting the QoS on my router to High for the network port that the Gizmo uses on my Linksys router.
