No problem...btw..just so you know, I haven't noticed any degradation from downloads since I've upped the QoS for that port...I'm a big MMORPG fan and have 3 computers playing this online game at the same time (and no, I'm not that big of a gaming geek that I'm playing all 3 at once....my son also plays and he has a friend over to play too...lol) and we have not noticed any problems with our games either.

How secure is VOIP? It's not like I need high security but it would be nice to have a little security when using the phone. On occaison I have to use passwords, social security, ....and other personal info over the phone. Any thoughts or comments on this?

I usually don't see any issues with my calls unless I am downloading massive amounts that eat up all available bw. Just using the pc's on the web. I have been able to download-within my limits, play games on the pc or xbox live and talk on the phone with no issues. Hope this helps. I've used SR for about a year and just renewed for $99/yr.

I ordered SR a week ago monday..told the agent I would signup if I recieved 15mos and GE's..talks to supervisor...done deal...my gizmo arrives with no GE's..call customer service they have no record of GE's on my order. Good CS would have rectified the situation there and then but obviously this has to kick all the way up to top management. Funny how when I placed my order they committed to the GE's quickly. I must say regardless of the outcome I am not impressed.

Calls you make via VOIP are more secure than landline or cell. In essence, all you are "sending" over the Internet are scrambled 1s and 0s. At the other end the unscrambling takes place "on the fly" and the other party hears your voice. Cell calls are less secure, with calls sometimes being picked up on other cells or on a radio. Landline can be tapped and listened to simply by going to the outside wiring and attaching a phone to the wiring. So, I feel more secure with VOIP in general when it comes to "dark forces" trying to steal my bank or credit card information.

Here's a strange one: there's a phone number I'd like to block. I have several that I have successfully blocked, but this caller shows up on my caller ID with the number "1321", and that's all of the number! Sunrocket won't allow entry of just four digits to block. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Well, that's certainly a bummer, mramm55...that you had to reach above CS to get the phones that you ordered. Normally they're pretty good.

Perhaps they had a backorder of those phones that the original customer service rep was not aware of?

I think you'll be pleased with the service when you use if for a while. Granted, its still a new technology and prone to a few hiccups now and then, but IMHO SR does quite well.

If you've got questions/comments, this is certainly a good place to be to ask them. Lots of folks here have experience with SR!

That's good to here! SRocket has done pretty well IMO so far. You might want to follow up and see if you can post a comment/send in a letter and let them know what happened and how it was resolved? I'm sure that it would get looked at cause they're pretty aggressive trying to make sure "everyone" is happy with all aspects of the service.

Ahh, I see.

Give SR a shot--with the trial period, you can sign up and send it back if you don't like it. If you get the phones deal you can keep the phones, too.

The adapter is not really locked or unlocked. If you gain access to the admin password you can program the ATA adapter to any other service.

SR has a better trial offer: 31 days vs. VTs 14 days. If you get phones with the service, you can keep the phones as a free gift ($50 value) even if you cancel service. There is also no shipping cost, no setup cost, no cancellation fee. VT charges $10 shipping cost, plus you have to pick up shipping cost back to them, so a total of $20 down the drain if you don't like VT. Also, after the trial is over, SR has no cancellation fee whatsover and you get a full pro-rated refund if at any point you wish to cancel. VT keeps 50% of your money, a huge risk in case they have major service problems and you wish to try someone else.

Also, SR has a lot more features than VT and they are running special deals once a month that bring service cost down to $8.25 per month or $8.29 per month, respectively (via either a $199 for 2 yr. deal or $99 for 1 yr. deal.) Add also that SR gives you a free signature # and also a $3 international call allowance.

I had port fowarding setup on my linksys router so I could remote desktop, ftp and www to my home address, but cant now that the gizmo hooked up. Anyone else run into this and how do I fix it?

I'm wondering if anybody else has this problem with their Sunrocket phones...when talking with someone they can't hear you...but I can hear them talking...anybody else have this problem and if you did and fixed it what did you do?
