I've been with Sunrocket for about 2 months, got in for $199/year. Has anyone signed up with the 2 year referral deal and ported their existing number over to the new service?

I tried doing so last weekend, but they wouldn't play ball. They said they would only allow one promotion per subscriber per year, and since I imagine that you got the three months free deal when you signed up, you'd be out of luck.

I have been a Sunrocket subscriber for almost a year and a half now, I think, and they wouldn't do it for me either, because their renewal deal was one month free when you sign up for a year. I would have been more than happy to trade that for the 2 years for $199 deal instead, but they refused over and over again. I'm considering dropping them and signing up again later. I suppose we could sign up under my wife's name instead, though. I just hoped they wouldn't make it such a pain. Whatever happened to taking care of your existing customers? It's a lot easier to keep an existing customer than to find a new one...

I missed the 15 month deal, the one I got was free Uniden phones and 12 months service. I wonder if that still qualifies as a promotionial deal.

Did you call them? Or sign up online?

I tried online. I got all the way to the CC page, didn't go further because their site is acting a little flakey at the moment.

Thanks!

SP- I think that's FAIRLY reasonable for them to refuse you the promotional rate. SunRocket can't just keep giving away phone service to everyone or they would never make any money! That said, I'm sure their CS was gracious about denying you the newest promotional rate.

Georgepa- Darnit! That kills me they're going to implement that new tax, but that was some good math you did there- I love the fact that our dear SunRocket will still come on top.

Their stated policy is that those who renewed within the last 30 days would be able to get in on the 2 yr./$199 deal. However, I've seen them take care of it for folks up to 50 days in (I assume an imaginary cut-off point there would be perhaps 60 days.) They WILL take care of you if you are currently up for renewal. Be sure to call SALES, though. These guys are more forthcoming than member services.

Anywhere inbetween is YMMV. I really don't think just signing up to a new account (with wife's name and email address) is too much of a hassle. I have done that twice for someone so far, and it is quick and easy.

1. Sign up.

2. Receive adapter.

3. Plug adapter in the same way you have your current adapter. Plug phone in adapter.

Done.

Be sure to cancel your other account. Of course, if you need to have your number transferred you can do that within 24 hrs. by calling Carrie Barr.

Sure, it would be nice if SR just transferred all accounts. But then their stated policies have no teeth at all.

I am sure they are interested in keeping customers. The workaround is really not a gigantic hassle. I guess I don't uderstand what the next move would be that would be hassle-free? Going to a different provider requires a lot more monthly expenditures and a port requires you to keep two providers active for about 30 days, fill out a porting request, etc. I don't see where going someplace else is any easier, quite to the contrary. More hassle, more money. I would order with your wife's name and email address. Tell her that your monthly phone cost went down to $8.29 per month because of her. A way to score a few extra brownie points.

I signed up, but didnt get the phones.

Any recommendations on a 5.8 set of phones?
I guess I need the extension phone for the upstairs, so I dont need to drag a wire throughout the house.

I have not tried this yet. Your phone uses two wires out of four. You may be able to wire with and another phone plug and run the SR service through the other two from the box from SR. Just a thought. Has anyone done this yet?

Sure it will work. It is just that you have to go to the outside POTS box and disconnect the two corresponding phone wires. Otherwise the pair of wires that you designate for VOIP will have voltage from your POTS running through it, inflicting damage to your gizmo.

My phone service is out here in Delaware... not sure how long it's been out since I just got home from work. TUESDAY JUNE 27. Sunrocket's website is down as well.

Now I have to listen to the wife moan and complain.

This is the first time in over 6 months that we've been without service, but there's no reasoning with a woman!

Anybody else out??

Any idea when the next 2-year $199 promotion will be? July 4th weekend is coming up, but I don't know if their CSR's will be working that day...we've been month to month for about 3 months now.

They don't celebrate the 4th of July in Canada except to throw wild bargains at their neighbors to the south!

Mine is working fine, and I just checked the Sunrocket Forums and no one else has posted any outages for today.

jlensbo-

No outages reported at all on Tuesday. It must have been something on your end. Did your ISP have issues, perhaps?

EvilYoda-

The 2 yr./$199 deal is back. You can jump on it today.

www.sunrocket.com

It looks to be the July 4th sale a week early. Has good old Red, White and Blue and the remark: "Indipendence from high phone bills."

Jump on this one, although I suspect that it will go right through July 4th, plenty of time to get in on this one.

I'm on the phone with SR right now and guy seems fairly clueless...are there any direct lines/CSRs that I should speak to? I've been month to month for 2-3 months now and he's telling me something about not being able to offer me the 2 for 1 year extension because I'm still under contract...?

Je suis confus...or something like that.

10 minutes later, he's "talked to his manager" twice and we seem to be good to go now. w00t.

i called in, told him i'm renewing (my subscription is coming up on july 15th though...), and said that i wanted the 2 years for 1 deal, and the guy who answered signed me up, gave me a confirmation number, and said that, since a lot of people called to sign up, someone would get back to me once the actual transaction was processed. he mentioned that the callback was a formality and that it was indeed a confirmation number i had.

I was just about to redeem some reward points for reasturant.com, but they are no longer listed.

Anyone know when they were removed? Are they listed & removed on a regular basis?

Thanks.

Promotions come and go. The one you are referring to was for www.giveanything.com. Summer is usually doldrums time. Expect some promos to return in fall and towards the holidays (particularly the $100 American Express Checks, Amazon.com, Best Buy, etc.) Not sure about that particular promo you were trying for, though.

I have no service right now.

Also, - SEVEN calls to Sunrocket with my cell phone, I get to technical support on hold and they hang up on me consistently about 30 seconds into the wait mode.

Service has been intolerable for the last month - quality has been horrible for people I'm calling. I've had repeated outtages in the last couple of weeks, but today seems to worse. I have previously praised on SunRocket & was about to renew, but now I'm certainly going to cancel. They're just trying to get too many new customers & not respecting the existing customers.

So, I guess I have no need to ask if S/R is FUBAR?

It's worked without any interruption for so many months that I nearly had to read the manual to see what to do next.

It has been dead for me for hours. Tried restarting the gizmo, the router too... nothing. It's been out for hours, just when I decided to tell the phone company off a few days ago and had my landline service disconnected.

I have had serious QoS issues since joining SR in March. They have closed the ticket three times for various reasons, and then I 've had to start over. I have been really patient because I like the price, and the features, but this is the last straw. For the past month, service has gotton increasingly worse. A week ago, my son was killed, and I *really* need phones to work. At least 5-6 times a day now, I get dropped in the middle of conversations. I'm talking to a detective, the phone goes dead. I call back, talk a few minutes, then dropped again. Or there is no dialtone. Today, now there is no service at all. I have tried to reach customer service for the past two hours (on a landline) and about a minute into the call, that line goes dead, too. Enough is enough. I'm cancelling my number port, demanding a refund, and looking for a new provider. I'm in Central California north of Santa Barbara. If anyone has any experience with a Voip service that actually works, please RSVP here. Thanks.

Oh yeah, I forgot that a lot of my calls have been dropped as well - thanks for the reminder

This sucks, I really liked them & intended to renew, but now they'll lose me.

p.s. I also tried restarting the gizmo, the router, the computer...

What I don't understand is the stupid disconnect when trying at least to get a status report or reassurance. You go through all the stupid click this type that, and then 30 seconds after you finally get into the wait queue, they hang up on you.

Not cool for lack of service, but this is even worse.

I don't even have a manual - so what do I do next?
