Yes... at least, I saw the icon for it while looking at a transport but I haven't actually tried it.

I really do not like the no info on mouse over/selection for your own units. Do I really have to find out the hard way that a particular unit is unable to attack air? Also did anyone else notice the rather weak anti-air turrets in the campaign? I even went so far as to build multiple lines of them as a test and enemy aircraft would just fly right past them into my base.

Besides a lot of points others have made so far, a big one too me is, experimentals don't have that same level oh aww.

Before they took awhile to build even with a good number of engy's on them and they were ultra powerful in the field.

In SupCom 2 you are shitting experimentals out nearly as quick as normal units and they just don't have the same "fuck yeah" feeling to them.

I wasn't even paying attention or trying and in the demo I had over a dozen "Poseidon" battleships very quickly. I just played Sup Com 1 about a week ago and to get the experimental battleship for the Seraphim took a few mins to build even with a nice pile of engy's helping.

It has lost its epicness and feels much more like your standard RTS flair now.

I don't think that Poseidon was an experimental, but I do know what you mean. I had several EXP gunships in the 2nd mission which didn't take long at all to build.

Sadly it is, you unlock it in the naval research branch, it and the Atlantis submersible aircraft carrier were the two experimentals for the navy.

The air ones in the next mission, WHAT A FREAKING JOKE. They went down so damn fast I was like wtf was the use of that?

I haven got to play the demo yet will tonight by what you guys are saying I just don't know. If it's easier thought it will appeal more to the masses and you can blame them for that cause that's where the money is.

sounds like they've made it more like starcraft :/

the maps in the demo are tiny. i'm hoping that larger maps will restore some of the previous feel.

I must say that I'm extremely disappointed with SupCom 2. So much so that I canceled my preorder.

My 2 issues:

  1. The game doesn't feel very epic. You've got too few of the low-tech units and the high-tech units aren't terribly powerful.
  2. The BEST thing about TA and SupCom was the resourcing system. I loved how you paid for your units over the life of their production instead of having to save up first.
I could deal with a general "dumbing down" of the game (fewer unit types, etc), but with 1. and 2. above, they've really ripped the soul out of the game. SupCom 2 might be a decent game, but it's just another Starcraft/C&C clone, and doesn't deserve to be called "Supreme Commander".

Is there a maximum amount of stored resources anymore, I don't mind the lack of in/out queue if the max is raised a lot or gone. But I don't want to have to build 100 storage units so that I can save up to buy a big unit.

You pretty much missed the entire point of the original resourcing system...

You're meant to manage streams of resources, not save up to "pay in full" for a unit. The storage capacity is just a buffer, so that you can run negative for a short amount of time.

ah I just got done playing the demo... its ok... its just not TA or SC... is seems more like red alert/starcraft... not that that is bad just its not ....TA OR SC!!! It seems rather dumbed down and there is no resource system at all that i can really tell from... you practically never run out of metal....ugh this makes me depressed....

Lol me too. I was really quite bummed while I was playing the demo.

factories can't assist each other anymore...lame

i also feel like research should cost money...it seems too easy right now, but maybe that's just because of the easy nature of the demo

Just a quick thought for those of you that haven't played SupCom 1: the sp and mp game balance were completly and utterly different so the case may be so again here and the real experience very different in mp.

That said I'm a bit concerned, the demo felt extremely restrictive and I hope it doesn't carry over to the full game. Also the unit hp, dps felt really odd.

Anyone notice any bugs? Many of my engineers didn't do anything I asked and most of my subs/crusiers got stuck in one place and also couldn't move. Annoying. Probably going to wait a few patches before buying this one.

engineers won't assist construction if you right click on the building after it has started. you have to right click the main engineer first, then start the building...this worked for me. i agree it is a bug though.

So I reinstalled 1 again last night, but it still did not create a folder group under the start menu..am I doing something wrong here?

There is nothing that separates this game from other RTS's now. Everything it does has been done before and done better. I loved Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander 1, but this bastard child of a game is only similar in name.

don't forget that there are major experimentals now, none of which were in the demo. the way i see it, regular units + upgrades = t1/t2, experimentals = t3, major exps = t4
