The day is nigh! The game is upon us! These two cats...

...gonna be fighting for the rights to a precious trophy...

Actually, I have no dog in the fight. Usually, I have a team I love and a team that I hate. This year, I have neither. The game probably won't live up to the scoring hype its projected to be, but be assured that it will come down to the last few plays.

Place you bets, gents!

I have no dog in the race, just want a good game. I always hated Matty Ice, he was never clutch and always overrated, until this year. I have no love for the Patriots, being a Giants fan, but we beat them twice, not the other way around, so really no hatred there. It's more like thanks Patriots, for helping us win 2 amazing Superbowls. I respect Bellchick a lot for what he has done, probably the greatest coach of all time. And Brady is Brady - love him or hate him he is probably the greatest QB of all time. But do I want them to win a fifth? Oddly enough I probably don't care either way, just be a non-sloppy, close and hard fought game and I'll be happy. Now if I was a Jets fan like my brother in law, I know who I'd be rooting for.

Pats have the better defense and offenses are close to evenly matched. If Pats perform at typical level they win, if they come out sluggish like the first half of the Chiefs game the Falcons will take it. Generally the one year wonder team loses (see Carolina last year, 49ers in 2013, Chicago in 2007, etc). The one exception in recent memory is the year the Saints won but I'm thinking the general trend will hold this year and the Pats win.

The Pats didn't play the Chiefs this year.

Watching Goodell hand Brady and the Pats another Lombardi trophy would be nice
It would be EPIC because that pri*k lack's the balls to come back to Foxborough, I think he'd find it a deflating experience. If the Pats win their fans will NOT let Goodell off the hook when he HAS to face Brady, Kraft, BB. That being said the Falcons are a very dynamic offense to say the least. I can see the Pats limiting the run game but how do they stop Jones and Co?. While Malcom Butler is a very good DB against a guy the size of Antonio Brown Jones is as fast and shifty as Brown but has a big reach advantage. In the SB vs Seattle they finally used Brandon Browner on Matthews but they have no one that size to do the job. It will be interesting to see the different strategy's both the teams take, I'm still wondering why Pitt thought a zone defense was going to work vs Brady, it flopped big time.

I don't see the Falcons being able to overcome the Pats in all phases. I think Ol' Bill will have answers for what they can do on offense, defense, and special teams (which is probably a phase of the game more suited to Belichick simply getting guys to do their jobs on, than strategy). Dan Quinn is out matched, IMO. And he doesn't have the personnel to fall back on to make huge plays and keep them in the game (something, as a Cowboys fan, I think Jason Garrett continues to succeed with).

Actually, and this isn't directed at you, this is nothing more than a garbage storyline to fill 2 weeks of dead air before the game begins. What makes the media so clever, is that they got this started after Brady's suspension was announced to give themselves something to sell during the 2 weeks before the Superbowl.

Its Goodell's job to hand the trophy to the winner. If anything, he'd be more than happy that Kraft, his alleged homeboy, gets another trophy.

I've seen Belichick take Megatron out of games, and Julio is the closest thing to Mgatron. Falcons better have other options.

Belichick has that strange combination of being able to have great strategy, everyone buy into the system, and get the most out of guys. It's like he is the perfect soccer manager. Reference: soccer managers (head coaches is the closest thing in American sports, but they can have other, larger scale responsibilities than picking the guys that start) generally fall into two categories: tacticians or man managers. Rarely, do you get the guys (at least, at the high level) that can do both very well.

The Falcons D line will plant Brady in the dirt early and often.

At least that's what I hope happens. It can happen. I think they'll have to play not just too the whistle, but a half beat past the whistle. Not enough to draw the flag, but enough to make Brady uncomfortable and whiny.

Julio is very important but Sanu, Gabriel, and Hooper are more than capable of getting open and making big plays if Patriots double or triple team Julio. And Freeman and Coleman are equally dangerous catching the ball out of the backfield. Turnover battle will be the key. I feel like only the Falcons can stop themselves on offense and not the Patriots defense.

During the SB vs the Seahawks Matthews started killing the Pats so BB put Browner on him and it worked but who do they use against Jones?, you can double him, sure, but that will leave others open. IMHO both teams will look to push the limits on disrupting routes at the LOS, that's how BB handled the Rams way back when but it's a question of what the Ref's call or NOT call that might also be the difference.

Yea, I'm worried, I can't sit here and say the Pat's D shut Pitt down that badly as much as piss-poor play calling on the 1/2yrd line,(hello?, you've got a 265lb '6"3 QB, you only need 10 inches) and 3-4 dropped balls that should have been caught. The Pats still probably win but it's by 3-7 points.

Falcons offensive line looked insane during the Packers game. I don't think they pressured Matty once. If the Pats can't pressure Ryan at all the Falcons got this. They have the momentum, the offensive weapons, and most importantly the Houston weather. I like the Falcons.

Pats fan here but this one is anybody's game. Honestly think it's 50/50 but have to go for my team. Looking forward to a hopefully great game!

The commercials have been getting down to a level of being dull and otherwise poor. The game from an entertainment level is a total crap shoot. Will watch if it is a good game, otherwise I will find something else to do at the half.

Offensively, the Falcons will probably have a similar game plan to the Seattle game. Get rid of the ball as quickly as possible. Seattle's DL was getting extremely frustrated because they were beating the Falcons' OL off the ball but before they could get to Ryan, he had gotten rid of the ball. This will lead to opportunities for the Pats' DBs and LBs to make plays and get interceptions - Ryan has a history of being very careless throwing the ball at times (he's been better this year but there have been a lot of dropped balls by the defense as well). But Julio and Sanu are big bodies that fight for the ball, and Taylor Gabriel is an extremely quick midget who gets open pretty well. And both running backs are outstanding receivers. So NE will surely jam the receivers at the line and probably hold. If the refs let them slide, it will be a terrible day for Atlanta. But so far in the playoffs, Atlanta's opponents have been getting called for defensive holding left and right.

Atlanta won't be able to stop Brady and the offense. They have to hope to have some methodical drives that end in touchdowns and hope to get a couple of stops. On the bright side for Atlanta, NE hasn't faced any top tier QBs aside from Big Ben last weekend so their defense might be overrated.
