that play is what won the game for the Eagles, nether team was playing any defense at all. all the pats had to do was get a cpl 1st downs and the game was over. but given how each team was not playing D at all they prob would have walked down and scored a TD if not for that

there was only 1 punt in the entire game
I was expecting craptacular defense from the Pats, with Butler benched for the entire game it got even worse. I was not expecting such porous defense from the Eagles though and I agree, had Brady not been strip-sacked he probably would have drove them down and scored. Of course the Eagles would have drove it right back and tied it with a FG (unless the Pats killed the clock beforehand, but Peterson had TO's left so I doubt that happens). Bill B is catching major flack from all over regarding the Butler situation, even if this was a "football decision" why would you stick with 2nd, 3rd string guys who are clearly getting hosed?. Butler came into the spotlight when he replaced a struggling Kyle Arrington in SB 49, he defended several passes and of course sealed the game with an incredible interception. Now Bill's hubris has grown so large he was not able to admit benching Butler was a huge mistake and insert him into the game, even if they still lost the players would have felt they went down with their guns blazing, shi*, one 3rd down stopped could have been huge in that 2nd half.

In the past 48 hours, Patriots owner Robert Kraft began talking with McDaniels and ultimately wound up sweetening his contract, helping to entice McDaniels, who had yet to sign a contract with the Colts, to remain in New England, a source said.

1. Not likely they trade him. Wentz is injured and they need him for the start of the season.

2. He's not that hot of a commodity, something any seasoned football observer understands. AND there's simply no way in hell anyone is giving the Eagles "a whole slew of draft picks" for him.

Here, I'll helpfully highlight the many relevant parts of this article below to help you get a better grasp on this situation.
.

ROFL!! You post an entire article of someone elses opinions and think that gives you a grasp of the situation? I could post 100 more articles saying the opposite.

An actual grasp of the situation:

1) Foles is under contract for a year. If they keep him they get nothing when he inevitably leaves.

2) The Eagles are missing a bunch of draft picks this season and want to replenish.

3) If Wentz comes back to okay he gets the job and Foles gets the bench. That drops Foles value a lot if they then trade him. He's hot NOW, he won't be once demoted. The only way to get real value is to act before he's riding the pine

4) There are always teams willing to overspend for a QB. And there are plenty with some draft picks stockpiled.

Ultimately, the grasp of the situation is that what the Eagles do with Foles depends on how confident they are about Wentz. He's supposedly going to start weight bearing rehab on the repaired knee this week. If all goes well he'll be ready for training camp and opening day. If he has a setback or progresses slowly that goes out the window. The Eagles will do nothing now and will do nothing for the next two months. That gives them a lot of time to assess Wentz. If he's questionable they'll keep Foles as a hedge. If they have high confidence that Wentz will be ready they'll trade Foles before or during the draft to get some picks.

Nope.I didn't think any such thing. I posted MY grasp of the situation and then added an article which supported it. C'mon mang, don't come at me with cheap rhetorical bullshit.

An actual grasp of the situation:
Rewriting your own posting history, are we now? Let me quote verbatim and in full your post that I was responding to:

Foles is a hot commodity now and there's pretty much no way the Eagles can keep him as a backup. Him on the bench or a whole slew of draft picks that can help the team immediately? Easy call, he's trade bait. He'll make a fortune playing somewhere else and the Eagles will make out like bandits shopping him.
Whole slew of draft picks? Want to bet on that?

Hey, Gag, sorry, but your confident assertion that there's NO WAY the Eagles can keep him as a backup also doesn't hold water. They gave Foles 11 million dollars over two years to keep him on the bench as a backup this year! And they did this despite then having to release Chase Daniel and EAT an additional 6.1 million in dead money. They value him highly as backup insurance. They were, ummmm, kind of right to, wouldn't you say?

Despite the fevered speculation now infesting the internet in the afterglow of the SB, I stand by my twin assertions in response to your post: 1. There's no way they're getting a "whole slew of draft picks" from anyone and 2. There is indeed a path forward for them keeping him at least through the start of the season, and possibly, depending how Wentz's recovery shakes out, for the entire season, something you have at least in part now subsequently acknowledged.

I agree, no way Foles gets traded, surgically repaired knee's are tricky to predict as to how they will hold up and with a backup in place that has proven he can win it makes no sense to grab draft picks from a desperate team. Even if that included a #1 pick you simply cannot succeed in this NFL without good QB play and Peterson is much too smart not to understand this.

Thank you, Bob Kraft, for saving us from Josh McDaniels!

Seriously, I have to laugh at Patriot fans who think they “got the Colts.” Most of the fanbase was furious when they heard McDaniels was the pick - the guy was a total disaster in Denver and mark my words, he will be again if he ever has the chance. Bob Kraft helped us more than you can imagine.

Even more funny is the continued whining about DeflateGate. I have news for some of you who are a little slow on the uptake - the guy who started it all was Ryan Grigson, and he is with Cleveland now.

I think the Colts should try to trade for Foles. The rumor is that Luck will need another surgery and miss next year. If that happens, I think Luck should just retire. The Colts ruined him physically and he doesn’t owe them a damn thing.

Seems Luck should be OK but I agree, you need a decent O-line to compete and hopefully keep a talent like Luck from being battered. I admire Luck's competitive spirit, even with a piss-poor team around him he kept them in most every game he played in. Them when his recovery was delayed the owner says it's "in his head", WTF, I guess Irsay does not understand just how much it sucks to have a 320lb DE crush you into the turf, (repeatedly). Still remain shocked at how much offense the SB actually had, not so much with Philly against the Pats, (lets face it, this D was nowhere close as good as the Vikings) but how NE was scoring at will in the 2nd half. Major difference was Bill opting for a FG on a 4th/1 and Peterson going for the TD, I was shocked he went for a 4th/2 on his own 45, that, (to me), took more balls because if you don't convert your giving Brady a very short field with a 1 point lead.

Going for it on 4th down late in the game was a no-brainer. If they failed to convert, they wanted "The GOAT" to score the touchdown and leave them plenty of time to tie the ballgame. It was a combination of the 2 yards to gain, the amount of game time left, favorable field position, and the fact that worst case scenario they'd be down a TD + 2 point conversion. Having not stopped NE in the 2nd half up to that point, punting it away and letting Brady engineer a long scoring drive would've actually been disastrous.
