A car itself is a horrible investment. If you want an investment go to Wall Street not the car lot.

And a used car is less of a horrible investment than a new one... mostly.

Well, cars in general are not good investments.

Most used cars are better buys than a new car except for used German cars. Because they are prone to expensive repairs the best time to own them is the first few years. After that they become horribly expensive money pits.

Funny. The Porsches I've owned (none newer than 1989) have been cheaper than my friends' Japanese cars to maintain. More reliable too.
