Well my gf wants to get a MB C class, I've been looking and it seems they made some changes from 05 to 06.

The old 05 had a blown 1.8L I4 while the 06 has a 2.5L V6. HP is up slightly but less torque and the engine and transmistion weigh more, and I've read the torque is more linear in the 06. I suspect the 06 is acutally slower than the 05.

Which would u pick?

I'm partial to blown I4s.. excellent gas mileage if you keep the RPMs low. But if your buying a Benz, money isn't a concern.

i think the 05 and 06 cost about the same, even the 06 is going for $1000 under invoice. Yea gas isn't really a concern

The blown I4 has one more thing to break.
More than likely requires premium.
But can be more easily tuned/tweaked if you are into that thing.

The V6 should be smoother but at the expense of harder upgrades and might not require premium (depending on compression).

If I had no ambition of moding the car, I'd probably just go with the N/A V6. Smoother, more linear power delivery.

Couple other notes - if you are at elevation, a boosted engine will perform better than an N/A one.

If you are in a very humid and/or very hot area, a boosted engine will underperform over a typical N/A one.

both require premium, the V6 has a compression ratio of 11.2:1. I'm pretty sure everything will stay stock

Supercharger is one more thing to break. But I have a twin turbo and love it.

I'd go *USED*, because paying full price for a new car is one of the worst imvestments you could make.

A car itself is a horrible investment. If you want an investment go to Wall Street not the car lot.

And a used car is less of a horrible investment than a new one... mostly.

I don't understand why she needs a damn mercedes. It's such a waste of money when you could get better more reliable cars to do the same job for less.

If you plan on getting a C class they make a 3.0 V6 the c280 which is only $3000 more list price. I drive them every day at work as I deal witht he new cars at a MB dealer in NJ and the C280 is actually quicker than the C230
