To be safe, I'd remove the entire sticker with the UPC on it. I called Rebateshq and asked them. The CSR asked what the rebate was for and I told him a Maxtor hard drive. He said to include the entire sticker.

What I did was cut around the shrink-wrap with an exacto and then heat up the UPC label with a hair dryer. I then carefully peeled the UPC sticker off and placed it on a piece of paper. Made photocopies, kept a couple, submitted one copy for one rebate and submitted my original for the Maxtor rebate.

I purchaced the drive the day after the rebates started. I took the 20 off coupon to office depot and got the drive for $75.00. I also sent the the 2 different rebates out. I checked the status of the the rebateshq.com and my rebate is on the way. Do you think that the other rebate will also go through?? I tried to check www.expressgroup.com for the other one, but it showed nothing. Is the site to check the other rebate??

It seems that staples has already changed the MAXTOR rebate so it goes to McAllen Texas
(the first one went to Miami FL)

Has anyone received confirmation from both staples and Maxtor???

EDIT: joshpokeball, check the purchase requirement DATES on the rebates. Mine - at OD - had to be purchased by 8/24/02 - don't know about any others.

2nd EDIT: I guess mine is the OD/OD rebate approved - the UPC photocopy . . . nothing at RebatesHQ.com . . . so far, so good.

That email is from the people from Walled Lake. I have not recieved conformation from them yet, but i did recieve conformation from rebateshq.com. If i get an email from the walled lake people i will get the hard drive for around $15.00. What a great deal!!!

Spark, thanks for the 2 links... OD/Express Group is processing mine, according to the website.. the OD/Maxtor site lists a $40 rebate for an 80GB Maxtor...that's something I ordered from Staples awhile back... anyone think that will invalidate my rebate for the Office Depot 40gb ($9.99) deal?

Ok latest from CSR, no idea when they expect any in still, rebates must be postmarked by Sept. 7th. So if you haven't recieved yours in a day or so both rebates are null.

Why was it rejected? Did they give you a reason? That seems odd because the Maxtor rebate required the original UPC and the Express Group/OD required just a photo copy of the UPC. I would've thought that the opposite would've been true.

Earlier this week I got accepted for the Office Depot rebate. Then today my Maxtor rebate status got posted on rebateshq saying it was denied. Something about an "invalid" submission. I called and asked. They wanted me to read them my upc code and they validated it for me.

btw, i had the ST0154000U model.

That never came up. All the person had asked for was the product name (Maxtor 40gb 7200rpm hard drive) and my upc code to be read to them, which i did. They said it was now validated and I should expect the rebate in within a few weeks.
