I just got off the phone with the manager of my local OD which has persistently been telling me that it was OOS online. I decided to call and see if, in fact, they were OOS.

The manager knew IMMEDIATELY the item I was referring to, and said that she noticed last night that this item was in the ad and found it was strange, because she KNEW that her store had NONE IN STOCK before the ad even came out!!!

What BS!!

She told me that unfortunately her store does NOT have any in stock, didn't when the ad came out today, and it was beyond her control since the ad is put out by (her words) "corporate". Man this really pisses me off. :| She also added that maybe they will get more in later this week...I should check back. Yeah....RIGGHHHHHT.

Isn't CRAP like this supposed to be illegal???

actually I was told by a Staples guy that this 40GB was being clearanced..so..I dunno..as always YMMV..$20 off $75 worked for me..had an email from an OD affiliate and my order showing a 8-22-2002 delivery date via OD delivery truck

I just got mine today. I live in lincoln, NE and called down there just to see if they had any. They had 3 on the shelf. (2 left when I left) SO I printed out the web site with my 20 off 75 coupon on it. I am pretty sure they are out of them on the web site. I went down there and got the drive and showed them the printout of the coupon. Well first... I just don't understand how DUMB people can really be.... first the lady trys to tell me that it's 59.99 (on the flyer it shows it at that price but thats after mail in) and won't give me the rebate... I tell her it's up to me to send in the rebate and when I purchase the item its 89.99 so I should be able to get the 20 bucks off. They call some guy over and he says yea that would be ok. So it's down to 69.99 now and I am happy.... then she says.... Becuase I gave you the 20 bucks off I am not going to give you the 30 buck rebate. First I thought she was just talking about the 10 dollor one... and then found out she was talking about the 30 buck rebate... not that I really cared becuase I have both the mail in rebates printed off anyway... but I told her... A coupon is different than a mail in rebate. finally after about 3 times of me expalining to to her she just shoved the printed out mail in rebate into my bag and sent me on my way! SO all in all I actally got the drive for 9.99 + tax! Kick ass deal! Thanks for everyone who spotted this deal!

The 40GB drive is in stock on the web , so by Tuesday I will have one delivered for $72.60 [incl tax]. And I read the fine print and both rebates are valid simultaneously...one with originals and one with photocopies.

finally scored a couple...thanks docinthebox...i got one ordered last night for pick up before they went out of stock everywhere. i brought my gf with me to pick it up, and the store (chicago, il...grand ave.) had plenty in stock even though the website said they were oos. she got the same deal and was out of the store faster than me.

When I order stuff online, I usually send a copy of both the order comfirmation and the invoice.

You should have stopped at the Customer Kiosk and filled out a customer comment and turned her for being so rude. I thnk you still can cause at the bottom of my instore receipt is a survey thing with a code. That code is linked to the sale on that receipt and they can track her down.

I used in store pickup because I really didn't have any choice. No matter how many times I tried to refresh the online cart, it kept on coming up unavailabe until I chose in store pickup and then it gave me the deal. I guess it checked stock at my local store (Chicago area) and let me purchase it.

I'd rather use the coupon on line and do an in store pick up rather than try haggling with the CSR at OD to try and use an online coupon. That's why I didn't go that route. That, and the fact that I don't feel like hurrying out to an OD with the hopes that it is still on the shelf by the time I get my lazy Sunday as* out the door.
