The one from the B&M is a D740X-6L and is running great- very easy to install & use. I'll post which model once the other one gets here (slated for 8-22).

If your local claims "out of stock" roll on in or give them a call to verify that is correct information.

Mine said no stock so I quickly drove over there and found there to be two on the shelf and maybe more in the back

I brought with me copies of my shopping cart with the coupon showing
and
a printout of the intial page that states that my click through $20-0ff-$75 referral has been accepted (the code is a 4 digit number in the URL)

The lady was really nice. When she entered the coupon code in store it only showed valid as $10 but she credited the the other $10 with some code of her own.

She then even told me to go over to the copy center and make the copies I needed for my rebates free of charge :Q

Thank you ATEffect

P.S. I found my code by doing a search on bensbargains dot network site for officedepot

Went to the local Office Depot in Vegas (89147) and picked up the last one for $75.xx before rebates.
Easy to install and works great...It's the D740X model.

well, i woke up late thinking i wouldn't be able to get it after tryin til 4am this morning. Called up my nearest OD & they said they had some in stock. Went there & had the CS Mgr ring me up, showed him my coupon & my cart printout, he started giving me C**P that they don't do it, that it's for online only. Needless to say, persistance PAYS OFF!! 5mins later he breaks down & gives it to me, but he typed it wrong & put in $25 DISCOUNT INSTEAD OF $20!!!

So even if it says OOS Online, try calling ur store, they'll most likely have em@!

My local Office Depot was pretty supportive. Online order showed backorder, so I called them up asking for stock on hand, she walked back to the hard drive case, came back to the phone and said "We have three." So I mentioned the $20 off $75 coupon, and she remarked that it would not meet the requirements because they had a cut out from the sales weekly taped to the shelf that showed "$59.99" I mentioned that that was after a $30 MIR and that the in-store price was actually $89.99 She said "One moment, I'll ask my manager." About 20 seconds later, she replies "No problem, bring along a print out of the coupon, and I suppose I'll see you soon."

So after my trip, I walk out the the drive for $74.94 after taxes 2 left in Eau Claire, WI on the shelf (although online still says backorder, I mentioned that to the clerk and she told me that was odd, so I mentioned that I had the same problem with ram about two weeks before, she said she'd mention it to management).

I just picked one up from the OD website for $89.99 - $20 IR = $74.54 with tax. So $74.54 - $60 = $14.54 not to bad I would say.

I guess that makes sense, but what do they care, don't they make the sale anyway?

Link for the NON-Fluid bearing drives.

You are correct. The drive I got on this deal is a 6L040J2 drive, which is ball bearings not fluid bearings. Doesn't bother me though considering my Fujitsu fluid-bearing drive got noisy and crapped out on me.

They don't want to piss off the local customers who wake up Sunday morning, read the newspaper, see the advertisement, then go to the store. I'm sure Office Depot is a lot more concerned with keeping the B&M customers happy.

The rebate to Maxtor,McAllen, TX asks for a "Mail-in certificate" ( as well as a receipt copy and original UPC from the box ).

Are they referring to the rebate form and calling it a "certificate" just to confuse us rookies, or is there really something else needed?

I got the drive today at the local B&M. It had a cash register rebate form for just the OD Walled Lake rebate center. No "certificate" in sight.

yeah, I'm sure they were just referring to the rebate form. rebate coupon, rebate certificate, rebate form, I've seen it called all sorts of things.

This DOES mean the Mail-In rebate form. I guess they do what they can to "confuse the rookies" and save themselves some money.

i thought it was on backorder? now im confused.

unless you ordered it when it was on backorder...if that's the case, make sure you get it within the rebate period, otherwise, they might not honor one of your 30 off rebates.
