Just went to OD online and got a message that the HDD was now for in-store pickup only. It wouldn't add it to my cart. Is this new?

I just called the GoDepot CSR to check on my order status. She verified that the order is supposed to be delivered today before 5:00 just like the website says. I don't think I'll believe it until my drives actually show up at my front door. I'll check when I get home from work. I called my credit card just after I called OD and nothing from OD has posted yet even though it should be delivered today. Hmm.

Waiting to see...

After visiting the OD website a dozen times and getting out of stock I lucked out 8/19 and received today 8/22. Just before it came a no return was placed on my order at OD website, so if you have a backorder good luck because this usually means no more will be arriving. It's ata 133 and I forgot how to tell the bearing type of a retail drive (J6L2) (it L01J040G) .

And also UPS looks like to have played a game of football with the box before they ran over it ! Dam they are rough on packages !

Good luck all who are still waiting. ( This is a DEAL)

Picked up the last two (one for me, one for a friend) drives today at the Office Depot at 43rd and Main in Kansas City.

They accepted the online coupon with very little question. Total was 74 something.

OD has contacted anouther website and told them that the Maxtor 40Gb HD with 2 rebates deal is illegal. They have asked them to remove it from their forum. The admin has since locked the forum. but has not removed it. I fail to see where using two different rebates makes it illegal. OD is only financially responsable for one rebate, as the manufacture is responsable for the other.

Office Depot screwed up so bad it's absolutley hilarious.

1. The OD buyer initiates a rebate thinking Maxtor will give them marketing funds but Maxtor already has the rebate program in place.
2. OD's SKU set up includes the double rebate misunderstanding.
3. Word travels at internet speed about the net to $10 and OD's site get's overwhelmed.
4. OD buyer goes into damage control mode by cancelling the $30 OD rebate since he's getting no marketing $ help from Maxtor. It's too late since it's already hosted everywhere.
5. OD realizes that their rebate has exposure from consumers who could buy the drive, copy the bar code and copy the reciept to get the $30 OD rebate and then immediately return the drive. They decide to make it non-returnable since their really trying to clear out this inventory.
6. Meanwhile this deal brings out all the faults in OD's online ordering system/inventory management/customer service/delivey tracking systems. The four systems can't communicate in real time so they're all tripping over themselves with misinformation.

Yeah, it's hilarious, unless you're getting the shaft and unable to get the drive!

I left my name at the local OD on Monday, since they didn't have any in stock (and I couldn't get one online). They promised to call me when they got some in. Later, I read a post from someone else saying he bought one from that store on Tuesday. I call OD and they deny having ever gotten any in stock! I'm pissed!!!

OD forgets they hosted BOTH $30 rebates on their own web site:
There are multiple offers available for this product. Scroll down to view all current offers.

I am holding them to it. Their advertising is the REASON I purchased it.

Like I posted earlier today, OD online wouldn't let me purchase the HDD ... couldn't put it in my cart even though it said 'In Stock.' I couldn't put it on my list either!

So, I went to the local OD and picked up their last one. I lost out on the $20 (or $15) on-line coupon, but I can't beat it for a little over $30 with tax! I'll just make double sure to keep copies of both of my $30 mail-in rebates offeres!

Are CC companies good about disputing rebates that have not been honored? Or is the 6-8 week waiting period on rebates past the 60 days dispute limit on most CC's?

Illegal? Nope. Neither rebate states that it cannot be combined with another rebate. Furthermore, as has been stated, one rebate is directly through maxtor and the other is through office depot.

However, what they may have said was that posting the rebate form that they pulled from their site was illegal because they withdrew that offer. Any purchases made after the rebate was withdrawn could possibly be denied. But that could be questionable as some people are reportly still getting the Office Depot - Walled Lake rebate form printed out at the register.

I have no worries about my Maxtor 'bate . . . (original UPC).

And OD is pretty easy to hold to a rebate especially since it's an error on their part (from past experience). Of course you have to call to get it (and it may be a looooong time).

Although this is my 3rd HD (30GB Maxtor/30 and now this one) - I "need" it as I will be selling one 30GB with my current system when I upgrade.

No. Your CC will be of no help with a rebate dispute.

Your best bet is to absolutley make copies of everything. OD really has no grounds to refuse their $30 rebate. The problem will be OD getting the $'s to the Express Group. I'm sure they had expected Maxtor to fund this rebate but since Maxtor is funding their own they will likely tell OD to "take a hike".

It'll probably take OD a while to work out the budgeting details and get a deposit placed with Express Group. Without the deposit, the rebate coupons will just sit in a box at Walled Lake collecting dust.

(The peripheral buyer in Delray Beach will likely go without his bonus check this year since this has taken a huge chunk out of his overall category profit margin goal!!)

IMHO, OD will honor the rebate as well as maxtor. It was explicitly stated on OD's website that "MULTIPLE REBATES ON THIS OFFER" for the drive.

They are aware of the rebate situation but they did not forsee the 25 off 75 would be used by sooo many people. my .02.

Well, OD can try but I have a Rebate Receipt and Coupon that was printed at the register on Sunday with the walled lake address. I am guessing thet is a bit hard to get out of.

me too
I actually called them this afternoon (as a thunderstorm and resulting power outage hit) and they said that if I had both rebate forms, I would get both rebates. I have the clerk's name and her supervisor's name. I was worried at first, but this if Office Depot and I think they'll pull through!

I got my hd yesterday. It was delievered by OfficeDepot themselves with the normal maxtor box and paper receipt. Kinda surprised me. Now it's time to fill out rebates to both companies and only hope it goes through.
