Well, two drives were supposed to arrive at my door yesterday. To no suprise, they didn't show up. I checked the website today and they still said 3 day delivery, expected 8/22. Huh?! I called the CSR, she checked and the supplier doesn't even have them in stock yet, so OD wouldn't have them, if they even come, for quite some time. I decided to pull the plug on this deal and told the CSR to cancel both of my orders. I'll have to wait for my RAID setup...

Your stock is falling OfficeDepot.

My local OD had 1 left in stock but I couldnt get the $20 off $75 past the manager.

$30 for a 40GB is still good but the deal just turned luke warm for me.

Any suggestions???

So close, yet so far away.

Online was a no-go for me.
Called the local OD and they were out of stock *but*...
the salesman said they were showing stock in the warehouse.
And that some should come in today.
I left work early with my online $20 coupon and backorder online printed pages in hand.
Went to the store, empty shelf. Salesman found *one* in a cart that had just come in from the warehouse.
It didn't make it to the shelf. And they honored the coupon.
Woohoo!! in mid-Hudson valley NY.

Help!! I ordered throught the OD site and got it via delivery. What do I use as the receipt? There was no invoice--just a delivery sticker on the Maxtor shrink wrap.
If you have a fax machine, call OD and have them fax a receipt to you. If you ordered online, you can also go to their site and print off a copy of your receipt under your orders. I've done both and it works fine.

For those in the northern VA area, the Office Depot on Rt 7 right near the tysons corner malls just got a new shipment in today. They are accepting a printout of the online coupon code at the register. No troubles at this store. Great manager actually called me today to let me know that he had one in (I had talked to him on monday and he said he would). I was shocked that he called...

I hate office depot... every office depot I go to is dirty and kind of shady with the worst employees... this kind of junk just confirms.. you can never get in on these deals and they are always a pain in the behind. What is up with everything constantly being out of stock all the time..............

Salvador: Thanks! I got a faxed receipt.

JohnBear: Way to exaggerate. I think you're talking about KMart. The OD near me is very nice, with generally competent friendly employees. Store shelves are not empty either.

YMMV

every office depot in my area that ive been too IS like kmart... in fact they arent even that well lit. Good for you that you have nice stores... but the shelves are generally very poorly stocked at the office depots here too... but the office max 3 blocks away is in excellent condition... I suppose its just poor regional and local management... so no, I am not exxagerating.

Johnbear: Point taken. It seems to depend on the age of the stores. When I travel in the Northeast, I encountered the worst Staples stores, but the one near me is brand spanking new and very nice. OTOH, for KMart--old stores are terrible, and new stores are bad

Did you at least use the $10 off $50 printable OD coupon?

How is this for a twist of fate:

They didn't have one when I originally went on Tuesday but, after I asked them to look, they did find one in a "near by" store and asked them to ship it to this store. Shipping took 3 days (a lot longer than I expected and I was starting to wonder if I'd ever really see it). But I called today and they said it had arrived.

I go to pick it up and when the receipt printed out (btw, I did use my $10 off $50 not the online $20 off $75) no rebate printed out with it. This is where it gets interesting. I asked "Where is the rebate?" and the cashier looks funny and says "Yes, you should have gotten one." He then calls over to a "manager" asking her to find a rebate form. She can't find one and offers to give me the rebate on the spot! I, of course, agree and she proceeds to credit my CC for $30 (plus tax) and lets me keep the original receipt!

So I walk out of the store with the drive and a out-of-pocket cost of only $52.99 (including tax)!

Now at least one of the rebates is a certainty...

Could someone help me out with the coupons, or is it too late to get on this deal? The links posted originally both go to the same rebate now . Sorry if this problem was already taken care of somewhere in one of the previous 666 posts. Thanks

You Can always go to Rebates HQ and enter your Maxtor rebate online.
Then printout the generated form and mail it in with your POP's. Make sure you choose the right 40GB Maxtor rebate though. It is on the 2nd page if you do a search for Maxtor.

For those of you that refuse to read the entire thread....BOTH rebates

Posting a request for something that's already been posted will generally get you flamed, n00b...

After placing an order sunday i began to grow concerned today that it was still backordered (with a delivery date of 01/01/0001...) so i called a customer service rep and asked what was up. Evidently if you ordered over the phone that day from in VA due to a problem on their end the order was never processed, and it this point theres no way to get one since theyve sold out for good. Anyway the girl offered me the 60GB 7200rpm drive instead. After much waiting on hold and general annoyance i finally got it for $29. A good bit more than $10 of course, but no rebates to worry about.

I stopped in to the store on Wed to find one, but there were none, so assistant manager tried to order one from warehouse, but it came up they had 75 and 65 were already on hold. They put in a request but came up pending. So she said call her friday, I did and she didnt have any, but she would try. She said I could have a 60 Gig HD they had for the sale price ($79), but I said there were 2 rebates availible so she said she would check and call me back.

The manager of the store called later and said we dont have any of the 40 Gigs left, but we do have the 60 gig. The original price is $120 or something, but he would give it to me for $79 and subtract the $60 in rebates on the spot!!! So I get a 60 gig HD for $20!!! and dont have to wait for rebates!!!

Just have to go pick it up monday

When I ordered online, the coupon did not take, but I called a CSR, and she said enter the 20 off 75 coupon info in the comments section, and it should get processed accordingly. I received the drive, an ATA133 L01J040G in 3 days, even after an backordered status. Having no indication whether the 20 off 75 was included, I called a CSR, and she ensured that it would be, altho it had not orignally been processed by the warehouse. So, hopefully, I got the 9.95 drive. Great catch, man!!!

BTW, the P/N on your drive, when you get it, will indicate whether you get fluid bearings. My drive P/N is MX6L040J2. The "J" indicates a non-fluid bearing drive. If the "J" were an "L", it would be a fluid bearing drive. Happy hunting!!
