got the drive today od delivery just came into my work. ordered 8/19/02 and received 8/28/02 W00t as long as the order says it's on 8/19/02 it's good right

Called CSR Monday - told out of stock for the forseeable future.
Delivered today (Wed, 28th) before noon. If the rebates come in final price is $14 delivered.

Dang Americans and your deals! If someone would like to buy 2 of them and ship them to my US postal box, I'll pay $30 shipped a piece. Even after I pay my 14% tax after crossing the border on that $60US my total cost will barely be over $100cdn for two drives. not bad. PM me if you want to make some extra money.

I seriously doubt that you'll get any offers. First of all, we are almost assured of getting both rebates.. Almost is not a certainty, so we are taking a risk on the one $30 rebate which would make our drives $45 after rebate and tax instead of $15. We not only have to buy the drives (good luck finding them in stock), we have to submit 4 rebates from 2 seperate addresses and then wait for the rebates.

You're asking to buy 2 drives for $30 each shipped? Hell.. I'd go for that deal too and skip all this jumping through hoops with OD and the rebates. If someone were to sell you 2 drives, they're maybe looking at $10 profit for each drive after rebates, our tax and shipping. Not to mention our time involved.

Sorry.. But I seriously doubt that this is going to happen. Someone's going to buy this drive and keep it for themeselves or Ebay it and make a real profit on it.

Also, where is the UPC on the box? Is it the white sticker that has about 3 bar codes on the side of the box of the hard drive? Please reply soon, thanks

For the rebate I only cut out the UPC barcode, would they want the entire white label? I have a L01J040G, is that Liquid bearings?

Just a reminder, as carmann already posted, Staples B&M and online have this drive for $90, with two $30 rebates, just like the OD deal. Add $10 worth of stuff and use the $20 off $100 coupon. There some small Bic items for FAR, or the bookcase as carmann posted. And best of all, Staples actually has it in stock, since everyone ate up the ones at OD. Mine's being delivered in the morning. $18 for a 40gb hard drive and a bunch of school supplies.

does staples still has this deal? with 2 rebate? i only find one rebate online.

Different addresses. Both say that they require the original UPC, but if you attach a note saying that the original was needed for a manufacturer's rebate, Staples has usually accepted a copy.

Search for the $20 off $100 coupon, and then add $10 worth of stuff.

I just called Staples Rebate Center and they told me that there is only ONE rebate - if I send in a photocopy, the rebate will be rejected .

Maybe I should try it anyways and hope for a screw-up in my favor.

Based on my horrific experience with The Express Group with an earlier Office Depot/Maxtor hard drive rebate, I wouldn't relax until you get the actual rebate check in the mail.

Keep copies of *everything* and be sure to check the status in 12 weeks.

Of the fifty or so rebates that I have submitted over the last year, my experience with The Express Group was one of the worst. Depending on who I talked to on the phone I was told different things and the also managed to lose all of my submission materials.

I GOT MINE!

I ordered online on 8/21 and it was delivered by OD on their truck on Tuesday. $74.00 with tax. I checked the receipt and it says "Date of sale: 8/21/02" so I'm good for at least one of the rebates. I have the original OD rebate that says a photocopy of the UPC is acceptable, plus I have the Maxtor rebate. I'm sending in both.

Now...

I'll be keeping a copy of everything and if I get rejected for the OD rebate sent in with a photocopy of the UPC, then I fully intend to hold their feet to the fire over this and I'll fight it as hard as I can.

But at the end of the day...

If I get only one rebate, I'll still be pretty happy with a 7200 RPM 40 GB drive for $44.00 landed cost. If I get both, well then I'll be happier than a pig in slop.

I would not worry much about OD rebates..they always seem to come and if you do not get it....go into the store and speak to a manager....they are usually very helpful

I had a 30gb Maxtor(quantum HDD die after like 5 weeks..beyond 30days.they let me return for another drive no hassles)
