speakers that Directron.com (through Yahoo! Shopping) are selling for $35.99? I was getting them to $44 shipped.

This is in a retail box. I assume that they are the digital speakers since thier part # is the same.

Are they the same speakers?

Did you connect them to a SPDIF or with the adapter? Mine should be here this afternoon. I bought a SPDIF adapter for my 8rda+ for this. I'm hoping it works. I talked to those guys 2 days ago and he told me that everyone where he works uses them. I hope mine work.

I didn't get that far...The hum occurred without even connecting the subwoofer (speakers) to the computer. To do the hum test, all you need to do is connect the subwoofer to the CONTROLLER (not sound) cable from the right speaker, and to the power supply brick. You turn the speakers on with the dial on the right speaker. Wait a few seconds and if you've got a hummer, you'll know it...

The speakers come with a cable for connecting the digital out on your soundcard to the speaker, as well as a cable for connecting the analogue out to the speaker (if you don't have digital out).

These should be better than the 745, the media theaters have a larger 3.5" midrange driver which should result in better/smoother midrange, plus the MT has a bigger sub cabinet and driver.

I just got a Dell 4550 with integrated sound from one of the deals here. Then I just recently ordered the BA635s from a different auction to go with it. Would upgrading to the BA Digital Media Theater speakers buy me any better sound considering I just have the integrated sound on my Dell?

Anyone have any recommendations for a good PCI sound card <$40? I don't need 5.1, I am just going to listen to music. Thanks for any help.

I got a hummer, bummer. Also, if you feel the top, back, left upper corner that sucker gets toasty. Other than sitting next to loudly humming, flaming desk, these speakers really sound great. I hate to send them back but I don't know how long they'll last humming and burning.

Bummer indeed...Make sure you email the guy selling them and tell him you have a hummer...I think he thinks that I'm trying to pull a fast one or something, since no one had complained before me (of course, I complained an hour after receiving them, so maybe no one else had time to check theirs).

I wonder if it's fixable. Anybody know anything about electronics? I noticed that it goes off and on, almost like a stutter when I'm booting into windows xp. Does that mean it's some kinda feed back or something? I really like the sound of these things but when I turn them off; what a relief! Like somebody had been beating on me and quit and I didn't realize that they'd been beating on me. Could it be a bad transformer or maybe it just needs grounding. The $15 for shipping is almost 1/2 the cost of the speakers. Bah.

It looks to me like someone skipped the refurbishing part. Did Boston Accoustics go out of business? That could explain what happened.
They may have been marked refurbed and weren't. If anyone is really to blame I'd put it on BA. I think S&P.Net just bought what they thought were a lot of refurbed speakers to resell and not wanting to bust open every box to test, just shipped them out. Sh!t happens.

Yeah, I think the company that sold them on eBay sold them in good faith. The guy at the company told me that they were sold to them by Gateway as refurbs, and I can believe that. I called Boston Acoustics and they told me that 1) if they were truly refurbed by BA, they would be in a box with BA markings, not a generic brown box, and 2) they never refurbished this line of speakers because it was made specifically for Gateway...

So I think the guy selling them got mislead by Gateway (who sold them to him). It's a bummer, but I don't blame him...

I bought the spidf directly from epox. They have been outa stock for awhile. There's an order form on their site (USA) and you just check off what you want and fax it to them. I then sent them an email to confirm. New low price $18 iirc. By the way, even with the hum these speakers sound great. I'd just like to get 'em fixed because I really couldn't afford speakers that sound this good but I can't afford to be shipping them all over the place either.

Well while it might not have been entirely this guys fault, he should have taken them out of the box and tested atleast 1 pair!

Apparently this was the second load of these the guy bought from Gateway. The first load was all good...this load is apparently almost all bad...If the first load was good, I could imagine not checking the second batch...

But I agree that if you have to pay shipping back, it kind of sucks.
