ok, i just got off the phone with them, and i must say, they have a very interesting way of doing business....

the sales rep i spoke to said that in order to get the prices they do, they wait until they have a certain number of orders (like 500), and then they order the part. she said it usually takes 3-15 days to accumulate the number of orders they need. i asked her what happens if they dont get the number of orders they need to make their order, and she said (twice) it has never happened.

yeeeah.

i asked her about this specific laptop, and she said it would be ready to order by friday. then i asked her if it was possible to do a pickup, and she said if i placed the order now, i could pick it up when it came in.

i dunno......

*edit* if anyone does go down to check them out, and they, by some miracle, do have them in stock, then definitely count me in too! i'd gladly pay $540 each for three to anyone who buys and ships them to me!

If this is a publicly sold corporation, then what they are doing is illegal. You can't advertise for immediate sale something you don't have.... The SEC takes a very dim view of such practices, and it still smells like a SCAM! What payment options do they offer? Paypal, or Westen Union? Bahh!

I live in Ohio and have been following this place since August. Always tempted to buy, but always afraid to get ripped off. I told them I would drive their and just pick up the laptop and pay for it then, but they would not accept that. They said the quickest way to receive the laptop would be to order though paypal and it would be delivered with 15 business days. I have spoken to people that have purchased laptops their and eventually they did get the laptop that was promised for the great price. But all of them were quite nervous. Last month they had an hp omnibook 500 PIII 600mhz with docking station for 500. I would definitely be careful.
