Scaling from the picture online at Dell home and using algebra, if the LCD frame is 18.6 inches wide outside, then the frame is about 11.7 inches tall outside. Comparing it to the 19-inch Mitsubishi CRT I've got here at work, you see screen area something like a wide 19-inch monitor, about 3 inches wider (and about exactly as tall) as this one I'm looking at.

I heard so many complains about dead pixels and back light issues ... god forbid I get one that needs to be returned .. I sure don't want to go through the nightmare of trying to get in touch with them .. this company should be in the Guiness book of world records for the worst customer service in the history of human kind.

I got mine. Black light issues, and Ghosting, called up dell and they are going to ship it back and full refund. Wide screen is nice, so nice, it?s hard to give it up, but I?m going for the 2001fp when it goes on sale again. It has better response times, it's larger. If your into games go for the 2001fp, movies 2005fpw, but be prepared you may have to return the 2005fpw a few times to get it right.

Err, I've heard that the 2005 (12ms) has lower response times than the 2001 (16ms).

Also, I've heard that most gamers are loving the widescreen.
