Did you read the user reviews? Pretty thin blades, these are definately not Chicago Cutlery, doesn't even come with steak knives. Someone said that they were cutting celery and the blade snapped and went over her head, almost putting her eye out.

IMHO Farberware = garbage. I bought my parents some Farberware cookware. Eight months later the riveted handles are loose, the non-stick is peeling away. I was embarassed to have given them such cr*p.

I have to give Farberware their props. My wife and I received a full set of cookware when we got married 8 years ago. They are still rock solid, no chipped coatings or the such. I think alot has to do with what price point you buy at. By the way we also have a set of knives from Farberware we got at the same time. They too are performing flawlessly.

The selling point on these blades is they are high carbon steel. You get much better edges that hold longer with higher carbon steel, you also have the benefit of easier sharpening. The higher carbon content generally makes the steel a little softer and more flexible, depending on the application this can be a very good thing or a very bad thing. Most high quality (read expensive) knives will emphasize the use of high carbon steel. Hell for $15 you can't go wrong, but they do have a henckles set on clearance with 8 steak knives for $140 if you wanna drop the $$.

one word though... most farberware stuff, at least that i've seen, are those serratted (yeah, i know i butchered spelling that) blades... you know, not sharp like a knife, more like a saw. annoying, and non-sharpenable.

I bought a set of farberware back in the Lechter 50% days. They are ok, but compare to J.A. Henckels. BIG Difference!

Save up and get a better set.

try Cutco, even better then Henkels.....I know cuz I use to sadly sell for Vector/Cutco...trained for 3 days, worked one day, quit the next
