Oh, man!!! You are absolutely right! I just printed out the rebate form, and indeed, it says "Offer Dates: 08/15/04 - 09/04/04" I'm going to call the sales dept and see what they have to say about this.

If you search for the MIR on the maxmyrebates web site it is indeed valid until 9-30.

I got one earlier via a phone order. CSR was very helpful in finding where they were available locally and having it shipped to me. Not sure about the quality of this drive, but for about $4 in taxes I'll take a chance.

The MIR has not expired. Click on "Rebate Center" from the link in the first post, then search by SKU with 20686205 as the SKU. Valid thru 10/14.

no, this is a toshiba 5112 drive, not a nec 2500 that can be upgraded to support double layer or a liteon that can be upgraded to a faster model.

Can't wait to get mine Toshiba makes very quiet drives, and the lite-on dvd-rom in my HTPC is noisy as hell Planning on ditching both my dvd-rom and cd-rw in there and just using this.
