My local store has two of these drives in-stock but they refuse to match the website price.

Also, it seems the rebate is only for purchase from officemax.com so maybe it's a good thing they wouldn't sell them to me as I would be disappointed in a few months when the rebate is declined?

WHAT THE HELL!!! I didn't make copies of anything either. I'm SO mad right now. This burner is a POS for $40. This deal was hot with the rebate, but now I have a crappy DVD burner, and $40 more on my credit card than I wanted

Same thing for me. I mailed everything on September 25th and got the turn down today. I'm 100% sure that everything was properly filled out and mailed in the proper time frame. Time to call the Connecticut Attorney General, the only thing he enjoys more than taking on scumbag businesses is getting his name in the paper for doing it.

Guys, Parago is about the easist rebate company to work with. Just call them up and explain that you filled everything out on time and 99.9% of the time they will automatically approve the rebate right on the spot. Shame on you guys for not making copies as well.....:laugh:

PS my rebate is approved and I am just waiting for them to mail out the check...

Actually I did keep copies and mailed with delivery confirmation. I have legal proof that they got the paperwork in time and the very second they rejected me for an invalid postmark they commited fraud. That leads me to believe that they're not such a good company to deal with and I feel an overwhelming urge to shove it up their ass.

I just called and spoke to a CSR. She took care of it. I didn't have copies of anything, and didn't have a DC number from my envelope or anything, but told her I "knew" for sure I sent it in w/in the valid dates, and she said that it should be sent out eventually.

Wow, I really despise the rebate system.

I called them to get it straightened out. The girl on the phone was very nice, extremely polite and quite apologetic. So I *should* get the rebate. The whole thing smells fishy to me though. Being denied for "invalid postmark" when I had delivery confirmation is complete BS. I'm betting that the reason they're so nice about fixing things is that they reject X% of valid applications and only reinstate people who complain. Those who don't bother to bitch get shafted.

Mine never even showed up on their site.

I did it online &amp; sent my submission in the same day I received my drive.

2 weeks later I bought a leather chair through them using their online rebate submission.

The rebate on the chair is already been mailed.

I just sent in a resubmsission of all my paperwork, rather than waiting for the postcard.

I got this burner. And i went in to the store with a 20 off 70 coupon from office depot they accepted. In the end they made a price adjustment mistake and charged me only 19.99. I sent in the rebates. And just a week ago i got my $40 rebate. So with that i made $20.01. The best investment i have made in my short life.

It seems much like many of those online "too good to be true" price scams. Like purchasing a laptop under cost, and they take plenty of orders and money, and only ship out (one or two) legitimately-purchased ones, to "prove" that they are legit, and pocket the rest of the money and eventually disappear and move on.

In this case, the rebate houses themselves are unlikely to "move on", but if they know that you don't have legal proof of their fraudulent dealings, they will just ignore you and keep your money. They don't do it to everyone, only a "random sampling", I'm sure, just to keep it from being obvious. They know the game, and they play it well.

Yeah, definately fishy, as the postmark date needs to be 10/28 and I received my notice at around the same time. I gave them a call at 888-808-5935, waded through menu systems to talk to someone and got it sorted out.

Got my rebate yesterday. Mailed it on 7/20, they received it on 7/28, received rebate check on 12/8; quite possibly the longest I've ever waited for a rebate.

Also... when I burn a DVD my system slows to a crawl, like it's using P10, but it's set to Ultra DMA 2. I've always had SCSI burners, is this normal for IDE burners?
