TWO. Why would he go make copies at staples when he works in a office? Isn't normal for an office to have a copier machine somewhere?

THREE. This guy has 4 posts...

I am now calling a several Staples near my area, and they all consistently say they sold out about a week ago. I think we are a little late on the deal....

Btw, I called the one in Santa Clara, Campbell, Milpitas, and San Jose now.

I left Staples an hour ago......the laughter of the employees is still ringing in my ears. Ohhh the humility!!!

The manager said "why don't I just give it to you free? Hey and it qualifies for free delivery also!"

I just called the Jantzen Beach and NE 122nd & Glisan Portland, OR Staples price is $299.50 for that SKU which does belong to the NEC 15030V LCD.

People always forget that clearance deals are YMMV, some stores may have it at regular price and some have it at clearance price.

YMMV

I found 2 in my area, both display models, one manager said he'd let me have it for $250, with no coupons and if I wanted anything more than the 14 day warrenty it would be $99. The other said I could have it for $30 off, and I could get the warrrenty for free, I'm going by there to see if I can slip in my $50 off $200 coupon also...we'll see, cross your fingers for me.

I can confirm that price. I think the scanned price is still $299. But the manager has the right to offer half price. I got one open NEC
1530V for $150 - $30 off $150 on July 14.

If anyone wants the monitor at clearance price - $299.50, I just found out Staples.com still offers them! When I called the 800 number earlier today to see if nearby stores have it, I was told that I can still order it by phone (which I couldn't about 10 days ago) at $349.99. I said the in-store price is lower, and she offered to match the in-store price. Since the rebate is expired, I didn't take it.

But according to an earlier post in this thread, someone was able to call NEC and got the rebate offer extended. So the monitor could be had for:

$299.50
- $30 coupon
- $50 rebate (need to call NEC)
= $219 + tax - any Staples Business Reward

I know it's not $130, but at least this is one deal everyone SHOULD be able to get.

OK, I just got a decent deal on one in Phx, Az.

$299
-$60 (mangers discretion price cut)
+$39 (1 year replacement warrenty, since display model comes without one)
-$50 ($50 off $200 coupon)
_____________
=$228 before taxes for a nice little LCD monitor and 1 year replacement warrenty

I think thats OK, not the super deal, but better than most

BTW, if you live in Phx, there is one of these left at the Staples on Peoria, across from Metro center, the lowest I could get him though was $250, without any warrenty, maybe you can do better.

Did anyone who has a scanner manage to get this deal yet? If so can you please post up the receipt, or PM me, and I can host it.

Thanks.

Why would anyone sell the monitor for 150?.....the manager could crush it, step on it, send it back to the manufacturer and still get more money for it. Why make the store take the loss?...you must be good looking.

That's a bit unethical. Many stores takes losses on clearance items from time to time. Why do they do that?

I bought one for $299 - $30 coupon - $50 MIR at Garden Grove, SoCal store. Just before the rebate started [ 6/29/02] there were just three in about 7 stores that I searched. I saw the deal I bought in advance and then exchanged it on the day the rebate became effective[ this is one technique I have used successfully in the past also]. At one store, in Santa Ana, I got an open box but the manager refused to reduce the price. He said he was trying to keep his job. Of course, I would have missed the rebate since there won't have been a UPC!! SKU is 451114 and the model number is 1530V. The new version of this 15" LCD is $449. Of late, Staples has become a little strict!! I don't know how the person got it for $150.. As it was already on clearance from $399 --> $299. Maybe you just got lucky.

What i mean is that stores get more money giving it back ("selling" it to the manufacturer) for more money than a clearance price. Which is why nothing ever goes on clearance for a significant amount. Because the manufacturer is willing to pay a greater amount to get their unit back.

The manager I talked to was very nice, I explained the whole deal to him, I've had some managers get pissed because I was looking for the best deal I could get, but this guy said he understood completely, and explained how it worked on his end... This monitor hadn't been on clearance in his store for that long so he was unable to go as low as others had, but he said that if it was still sitting there in a week or 2 he might go alot lower, but considering I call all the Staples within a decent driveing distance from my house, and there were only 2 left, I figured the deal I was getting was better than not getting one at all.
All in all, I think is was one of the best experiences I had with a manager while I was trying sqeeze for everything I could get.
