I just applied for the AMEX BLUE card through online. Their system told me it would take 7-10 BUSINESS days just to get approved. I called AMEX and was told this is normal. How did anyone ever get accepted in 60 seconds or is someone making this up?

Hehe, that means ur credit is questionable and/or they need to verify more info. I've applied when the card first came out a couple yrs ago and got approved immediately online. I applied for my gf a week ago and got approval too. I know a friend that didn't have such good credit and he had to wait the 7-10 business days. too.

So, does anyone know if they're really tracking the $5000 limit? If someone were to *ahem* go on multiple trips over the next few weeks, and they weren't recognised at the store, it seems like there is no procedure in place to stop them from spending more than the $5000, right?

My understanding is that Amex keeps track of the $5000 limit. So if you go over, they'll charge you the difference.

I applied for the Amex last Thursday online. I was approved in 60 seconds , however they had to call me to verify some information. I received the call the following night, but missed it, so I returned their call on Monday morning.(That particular office is open M-F). After giving them some information, the very nice customer service rep said that I'd receive the card by December 17th. So anyone interested in getting in on this deal, it is still possible. Hopefully their will be something left by the time I get my card. We'll see.

Help! Sunday I ordered a ps2 from buy.com for $299, free shipping, $25 off $250 coupon, $274.99 shipped. Today I saw this deal and tried to cancel the order. It let me cancel, but now I get an email that says it's intransit u.p.s. Meantime I applied for the Blue card and got the "answer in 7-10 days" treatment. Now what do I do? Take the PS2 from buy.com and try to pricematch with blue? Virgin may be out of stock or I may not get my blue in time.. Any ideas deal masters?

I called up the one in Sacramento and they had like 20 PS2s! I told them to hold me a PS2, vertical stand, GTA2, memory card, and an extra controller.

Got there..got my stuff. They didn't have Gran Turismo 3 though...damn it....but it's all good..I got my stuff.

A CSR told me that they didn't have meeting on it. I asked him if I came back on the 26th, if the amex discount would still apply, he called the manager over....the manager read my mind and said the coupon and 30% off could not be combined....something about the terms of the amex deal.
This was at the VMS on Sunset.
