I believe it's the best KT333 motherboard right now, with CE chip, ATA133, USB 2.0, RAID ......

Too bad, I already get a 8k3a+, but I think it's good for you guys with that 1600+.

Here's the review from tomshardware.

review

It's not good overclocker like 8k3a+, but it's more stable, I think it should be fine to let you run it at 166*10.3. If you don't want to take your chance, go ahead get a 8k3a+.

One thing you need to conside is get a KT333 CE board, since it can let you run AGP/PCI at 66/33. So, only concern is get a good memory. This week's BB 256M $30 can run at 166.

With 1600+, you are really getting a KICK-ASS system just for $130!!!

UPdate:

Got AGOIA "Y" stepping. Solid like a rock at 10.5*166 on my 8k3a+ 1.0.

In the Sandra 2002 pro SP1, it told me it's a xp2100+

Just found it's the #1 seller at newegg. Should they pay me for this? Or maybe I should pay them $67 to get another one.

^_^

Good deal but if you live in Ca. there is tax. So I would buy from TCWO. There price is $63.00 + $3.95 for shipping.

Note that TCWO has a fairly horrible warranty policy on OEM cpus. You get a 15-day warranty, or, if you shell out another $15-$20 for a heatsink/fan, you get 30 days.

Newegg only has a 30day warranty, so the way I see it, if you're gonna overclock this puppy, do it as fast as you can and burn it in as soon as possible.

Actually, looks like TCWO has changed their OEM policy over the last couple days. Now you get a 20-day warranty (instead of 15-day). No heatsink/fan option or requirement.

I agree that the first thing we usually do with OEM chips is void the warranty. Still, the warranty does give you some extra time before you need to plug the chip in and make sure it works. Sometimes I order stuff but don't end up playing with it for a couple weeks.

It's amazing how much these prices have dropped. And the trio of Newegg, TCWO and GoogleGear have created a fantastic price war on AMD cpus. I hope all three stay in business for a long time!

Just ordered one from NEWEGG.

***FYI: When you place the order you can optionally extend the warranty on the CPU to 1 year for $5. It is in the check out process.

so AMD XP 1600+ OEM w/ 1 year warranty $71 (66+5)

Will work nicely in my IWill KK266+

Just picked one up from TCWO as I live in Cali and don't wanna pay tax. Yes, I am cheap. I would have ordered from Newegg if I was in a hurry... but alas, I have no idea when I'll get to upgrading. I have a 1.4ghz Athlon standard right now. This little boost will be nice for my video rendering and large RAR file work.

Anyone care to share some links to sites that cover the hole mod job for this CPU? Maybe save us all from doing the research individually? Thanks!

I have one of these boards, they have a rep for many problems with XP chips. The XP bios seems to hose things up good. I have decided not to upgrade based on the info in Google "groups" search for KK266 XP. Good Luck, hope you are one of the lucky ones who gets a XP chip to work. Something about the board giving the chip too much or not enough voltage at boot?

for $5 more, you can extend a newegg OEM cpu warranty to 1 year.

Flatbroke-
Do you have the KK266 or the KK266+(PLUS)? I have the plus one and have checked some of the Iwill message boards and it seems the problems are with the NON-plus ones?
I have already flashed mine with the BIOS that supports the XP chips and have not had any problems.
I still have a AMD 900 in it though.

Of course. 1800 is the best buy at the moment. You can easily overclock 1800 to work as 1900. For 1600 you would need additional 200 MHz overclocking for the same. That won't work without some special cooling. For 1800 you basically need nothing more than to turn bus clock from 133 to 138 which just about every retail/stock cooler and memory stick would be able to support.
