Newegg's price on the XP1600+ is now $55 with free shipping, but I live in California and would have to pay sales tax which kicks it up to $59.40 or so. I can get the XP1700+ for $58 delivered from PCSupplysource in NJ, which seems to get above average Resellersratings, though certainly not in Newegg's class.
I ended up ordering from Pcsupplysource and both of the XP1700+ CPUs appear to be AGOIA (though without a magnifying glass I can't swear it doesn't say AGOJA, I suppose). Maybe I'll try running the M7VIG at 166 FSB, just for grins.AGKGA are hit or miss. Either they run super, or they are just good for stock.
I believe the order of better o/c chips is:
AGOIA > AROIA > AGKGA > AGOGA > AGNGA > AGLHA > AROGA >

Someone recommended the 7VRXP as a pretty good mobo for overclock, and so I thought about the XP 1600+ 1.4 GHz, and perhaps getting it as high as the XP2200+. I would definately go this way, however I'm concerned about the lifespan of the CPU, provided I can overclock the chip that high. I've read on other threads that the 1600 will only go as high as 1.6 Ghz. Will I be able to use this computer for the next 2-3 years if I overclock - at that same overclocked speed? If so, getting the XP1600 would save me about $100

BEWARE GIGABYTE 7XRP
I just bought that mobo and promptly returned it. It seems there is an issue with it. It resets your bus speed when you power it off. There are more issues too, but that one is darn annoying. I had to boot mine up about 3 times to get it at full speed. I had it up to 180 fsb with the pc2700 i bought, but I don't want to have to boot it up 3 times every time I power it off. the forums at amdmb.com tell all about it too. There are plenty of cheaper and better alternatives out there.

My AGOIA F that I just got from newegg seems to be a dud =( I've been having headaches with my new computer all day long!! =( I have an Epox 8k3ae with the 1/6 divider and I can't get the chip to run properly at 166 at default voltage. The highest I got it was about 160. In order for the chip to work at 166 I had to boost the voltage to 1.8 but it would fail immediately in prime95. Anyone know what the problem is? I'm using arctic silver, I have the SVC Golden Gate 40 (up to XP2100+), and I also have 512mb samsung pc2700 that I got from komaxx. This is all in an enlight 7250 with 300W psu. I thought this computer was gonna be a cinch to overclock but guess not...What do you guys think is holding me back? Oh ya, the clip is too big on the heatsink so I have to use the second or third dimm slot, would that hold me back any?
