I posted this at FW too but users at Anandtech are more familiar with DDR memory.

I just got back from CC looking for the 200GB WD drive rebadged as 160GB. Lucky for me, I stumbled on the Kingston ValueRam 512MB PC2700 for $57 ($89 - $32 rebates ending today). I examined the chip and this is what I found :
Hynix 329A
HY5DU56822AT - D43
Korea

What a steal. This is the same chip used in PC4000 and PC4300 modules. 4.3ns is actually 466 DDR but you can probably OC to F500 MHz. Look at this : http://www.amdforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=252326&perpage=15&pagenumber=1
Buffalo PC4300 is using the same chip.

update: my stick is stable at DDR 460 2.5-7-3-3 @ 2.8V. Can probably go higher with cas3 which my mobo wont support, px845pev pro.

Went to CC after reading this post on FatWallet. They had the Kingstion Value 512 DDR2700 RAM at the price listed, however chips were Samsung. Doesn't look like all of thier 512 2700 use the 4.3ns chips

I got a 512MB stick of Kingston PC2700 Value RAM this week at OM for $19.99 (ARs/C). The RAM has Kingston chips on it with the following markings:

D328-DL-60 0320PT16

Anyone with any knowledge about these chips? If my eyes aren't deceiving me, it looks like some markings have been removed from the center of the chips. I wonder if Kingston is removing the name and putting thier own on the chips. I don't think they make their own chips -- do they?

Just want to let people know, don't expect to be running at low latencies even at 400mhz ddr. it's my understanding that while hynix chips can go higher than winbond, winbond can go pretty high and at cas2-2.5.

nope and I noticed that as well about their remarking but AIDA32 Personal says they are Kingston chips ..

not sure what they are but they'll run as pc2700 just fine

Went to local CC in Sugar Land, TX. They had 4 Hynix and 1 Samsung. Picked up 2 at the mentioned price. Testing one stick right now in my P4C800E Dlx. Passes Memtest86 at 245fsb 1:1, 3-4-4-8, 2.75 vDimm. Moving up to 250fsb will fail Test#5 even at 2.85 vDimm. Maybe it needs some burn in. Running a few more loops of Memtest and will install the second stick in dual channel and test.

cannot get it to pass 186 FSB at cas 2.5 but can run and pass 3Dmark2001 at 165 FSB at cas 2-2-2-5 @ 2.7V.

Edit: I'm sorry becuz I test at 140 FSB 3:4 ration then jump ahead to 150 FSB and failed. so I should say cannot get it to run 200 FSB with cas 2.5

Both sticks in dual channel fail Memtest86 #5 at 245fsb.

Runs fine at 240fsb, 3.0-4-3-7, default vDimm.

Over 3k unbuffferd Sandra. Over 5700 buffered.

Aren't you the one looking for inexpensive DDR that'll do 250fsb 1:1? You were pondering on the Buffalo PC3200 CH-5 right?

Well, I think these Hynix will do better than Buffalo because you can run CAS 3.0 thus go higher on fsb. I don't think the Buffalo will let you run CAS 3.0. Besides, these are WAY cheaper.
