Could you possibly check the SPD readings on these Hynix modules. I'm thinking that they may actually be programmed for DDR400 rather than DDR333.

You can check this in the "mainboard information" section of Sandra or you can also use CPUz (go to the about tab, click on "memory SPD", and then it dumps the readings into a txt file".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sandra says:

Memory Module(s)
Memory Module 1 : Kingston 05FFFFFF 512MB 16x(32Mx8) DDR-SDRAM PC2700U-2533-700 (CL2.5 up to 167MHz) (CL2 up to 133MHz)
Memory Module 3 : Kingston 0DFFFFFF 512MB 16x(32Mx8) DDR-SDRAM PC2700U-2533-700 (CL2.5 up to 167MHz) (CL2 up to 133MHz)

Check out the link below, it linked to my thread at overclockers' forum regarding PC2700 Kinston VS Ram..

Kingston PC2700 Thread

Hynix D43 isn't the only hot chip to look for on those Kingston VS PC2700 modules...

Just a quick remark..HY5DU56822AT - D43..D43=/=4.3ns..it acutally stands for DDR400@CL3..
You can look it up at hynix website..however, it is true quite a few memory manufactures uses this chip
to achieve PC3700 even PC4000 speed...

By the way, these are not the same chips that Corsair and Buffalo PC4300 use.

They are using HY5DU56822BT - D43 while Kingstons are using HY5DU56822AT - D43

A is 2nd gen while B is 3rd gen which overclocks much much much better. 270fsb+ is very possible with 3rd gen while the Kingstons pretty much topped out where I am at.

You can read some more here.

yeba, please correct your top post so ppl are not mis-led.

Hey guys, just want to let you know there are some in the houston circuit city. I know there was 5 at the cc near willowbrook. I took 2 of them so that makes 3 left. I did try to play around a bit to see how these memory are. Indeed they are capable of much more than their rated at. I've been able to push 180cpu_fsb/215ddr_fsb no sweat. My limiting factor is my mobo which is the 333fsb asus a7n8x. I also have a gigabyte 7n400pro which I'll try later on. I'll post my results.

sorry bro but your limiting factor is not an a7n8x. that board is not a 333 board... it is an nforce 2 board and runs like a scalded dog. you might want to check which board you have...

I want some of this! I'm wondering if its worth the cost though, thats still really expensive for pc2700.... I'm gonna look for places to PM and maybe these are turning up other places. Is it possible to see the chips through the packaging like it is with pny?

Got one, hynix 4.3ns ram! Gonna test soon, my current ram caps out at 210 7-3-3-3 but I know my board is capable of a good 220 or so

hi

can you tell me whether you are able to perform tighter timings at, say, 225-230fsb? by "tighter" I mean 2-2-2-6-1 or better

Oh man, I don't think so. It didn't even do CAS 2.0 at 200fsb. This ram is probably not so good for nForce2 boards since the memory performance is more sensitive to memory timings than higher fsb. For Intel 865/875, these are good since higher fsb usually give better performance than tighter timings.

Does anyone have real-world experience with the Dell PE400SC w/ the P42.8c 800FSB and the i875 xxx w/ the 82875P chipset? I know that Dell's done their usual BIOS branding so it is stable as a rock with very relaxed CL3 type timings, but I'd certainly like to know how some of the <4.5 ns boards are/will work on this rig.

Thanks

Everyone, this is NOT, I repeat, NOT 4.3ns RAM.

Thisis DDR400 3-3-3 ram

according to someone who checked it out from Hynix website.

this deal ends today, but tomorrow officemax has the exact same deal.

PM to best buy and it will be the same deal, just need to find some with the HYTNIX chips.

I don't know how to do links here, but it is in the officemax flyer on the website right now.

Don't jump to conclusions there bud! The given timings have nothing to do with the actual speed in ns or the ram's potential. How does "400 3-3-3" relate to "4.3ns" in the slightest way?

I am going to (try) to return the 2 sticks I bought today. Didn't work out on my 8rda+ board. They were the last 2 hynix chips at my local CC, But they perform poorly c/w 2 crucial pc2700 512 sticks I also have. The crucials run fine @ 185 w/ 6-2-2-2.5 settings. The Kingstons needed 8-3-3-2.5 to boot (2.77volts), would o/c to 215 , but didn't pass Prime95 T'test @ any speed from 185 up. Bahh what a disappointment !

Yeba is an idiot. I, however, am a bigger idiot for jumping on this "deal". Thank God CC are easy about returning stuff.

What revision 8RDA+ MB do you have?

What is the date of your BIOS too?

I have been running a Kingston PC2700 512MB that has Micron 6ns chips as my first real attempt to OC and it is running at 192fsb in sync with the Barton 2500+ to achieve 2.23 instead of what the Barton is rated at (BIOS is May 7). I did pick up two of the Hynix and will try them out when I get a chance. I have two PC's that are using the EP-8RDA+ MB, the other has two-256MB Kingston HyperX PC3500 chips but I haven't tried to OC it yet. It has a "good" 1700+ CPU that should be a good OCer...

I am just very interested in the Kingston 512MB PC2700 RAM, as around here, I have found them with Hynix, Samsung, Micron, Infineon, Kingston-Micron, and even Kingston-Winbond. The Micron is working great right now in my EP-8RDA+, and I cant complain, as it cost me only $30 AR a couple of weeks ago for 512MB and that beats the heck out of $90 elsewhere...

So, what are the opinions/facts about the various manufacturers of chips for the Kingston:

Kingston - Micron
Kingston - Winbond
Samsung
Micron
Hynix
Infineon

(These are the only one's I have seen - so far!)

AnimEva was just trying to explain that the OP was incorrect when he assumed that "D43" on the end of the chip part number is 4.3ns. Yes, many chips indicate ns speed at the end of their chip number but according to the Hynix website "D43" means DDR400 3-3-3. Maybe these are 4.3ns chips but you cannot tell by the part number. This RAM may run faster than DDR400 3-3-3 designation but like any other RAM you will have to play with it to see how fast it will go above its rating. Let us know how fast you get it up to.

Haha, other folks beat me responding...
