My son calls me the "button masher" , even if i doing ok, i am always pushing so many more buttons and so much more WAK, he just laughs at me.... damn kids, lol
So admit it...who here was one of those who moved the controller every time you pressed the jump button even knowing it has no effect on the character on screen?
It's kind of bizarre - I've played games like this against my kids when they were younger, and I crushed them. I played Atari Tanks (Combat) against them, and they had their butts handed to them. But, if I played more modern games against them, where special moves required some memorized sequence of 5 or 6 button and joystick inputs - I didn't have a prayer.

i used to move my hands playing mario kart and stuff, and starfox, with the controller in hand.
when i play fighting games i am pretty intense too. i can't just sit back with a joystick on my lap. i have to have it sitting on something and am usually leaning forward a bit by the end of the match. i tend to move my shoulders quite a bit when playing fighters too.
hell i've had sessions of killer instinct, and keep in mind it's in my cold ass basement, where i've literally been sweating afterwards lol.
Heh I remember seeing a couple of my friends and my sister do it and I used to yell at them. I can see it now "are you dumb? you know moving the controler doesn't do anything, stop it."

My mom used to do the controller lift-jump thing when she would occasionally play Mario with me and my Dad. We'd make fun of her
This reminds me of watching my father play "Pinball" for the NES. Dad was a regular pinball player in his youth and he would shake the controller as if he was shaking the machine! lol
Playing the old ones via Super Mario All-Star. Really puts into perspective what a leap forward Super Mario World was, which was my first Mario game I played as a kid. Super Mario World really took it to a new level.
The rainbow road or whatever it was called in SMW was nuts to me.
You mean the Special World? It is the best part of the game. Some of my proudest video game moments were barely getting through Tubular, or nailing that last jump on a turtle in Awesome.
Didn't it have a crazy name though? It had the craziest levels ever in a Mario game. Dunno how I ever finished them.
