While looking for a new phone for my girlfriend, I stumbled across the following deals:

Sprint PCS right now has a $70 mail in rebate on all of their phones, at pretty much every retailer. The following link is for the rebate form from Amazon:

Amazon.com is giving its OWN rebates on phones--pretty big on some of the Sprint phones, but I think a rebate on every phone they carry, some as high as $200--click the link to see all the phones listed:

These rebates are combinable, and considering amazon just lowered their free super saver shipping to any product over $49.99--get the deal and free shipping on the phone.

But to make it hotter...

Went to my local sprint store, (Dayton, Ohio, near the Dayton mall), and the big sign on their door says "WE MATCH ALL COMPETITOR'S HANDSET PRICES."

They pricematched the Amazon rebate for the Sanyo 5150 (Color screen, flip phone)--and in the store, depending on credit, the $70 mail-in rebate may become an INSTANT REBATE. Just had to show a copy of the Amazon rebate form, and they had to check with the manager.

Paid $30 out the door for a phone listed at $300. Only a one year contract required, and NO MAIL IN REBATES.

In the alternative...

My local bestbuy (Dayton Mall, again) has 50% off any handset when purchasing two accessories. Would have made the Sanyo 5150 $150, minus the $70 mail in rebate= $80, plus the costs of the accessories. Not as hot, but still good...

i've really been looking into a new phone for my sister....my mom's been with Sprint for like 2 and a half years now, so hopefully we don't have to sign the 1-year contract...(My contract is through with AT&T, so I'm hoping to eventually migrate the entire family over to GSM......I don't want to sign new contracts when I know nicer service is out there...)

Yes, SprintPCS does match other store's sales prices. I came across this by accident when Bestbuy had their 50% off sale. YMMV depending on the sales guy. They do check the competitor's "sale" conditions before PMing for you. But I'm sure some CSR are lazy and will give it to you at a loss.

After AT, I will never buy cell phones the same way.

Is the Amazon offer only for NEW SprintPCS customers or existing customers also? AMAZON.COM says the the phone price is WITH ACTIVATION. My understanding is that its only for new customers. I am a current SprintPCS customer and looking to replace my phone. Can someone clarify? Thanks.

fmound: u need to sign a new contract to get this deal. it will be added as a 2nd line on ur account, even if ur current contract is over. To qualify for a 2nd line, you need to pass sprint's credit check. I am not sure, but i dont think its too difficult

I was able to get the instant $200 and $70 rebeate PMs on the Sanyo 5150 at my local SprintPCS store this weekend with no problems. $36.60 out the door for a Sayno 5150 with tax and free activation right in the store . The manager said it was corporate policy that they must match all competitors selling SprintPCS equipment. If your local store does not want to PM, I would call SPrintPCS customer service and complain. Thanks MrJones!

the third in the UWS side fine, but i didnt want to bother going there.
so i got the amazon deal.

My store says they won't match mail in rebates and I don't know how to convince them that they do. Any suggestions?

I am actually eyeing the Sanyo 4700 because it apparently has a much better speaker phone and sound quality than the 5150. But having seen neither in person I'm going by the reviews alone. It also comes out to be -$70 after MIR which is pretty nice.

I only wish it had gps too.

They have free activation at the store. plus I can get the phone a lot faster.

Although I suppose they can activate it for free there even if I buy the phone from amazon. I'm not sure though.

This seems EXTREMELY interesting. Although, I did call up SprintPCS asking about this policy, and the sales rep seemed to get pretty pissed off. He promised me that no retail Sprint store would do this because Amazon is a 3rd party vendor. I really hope he was BSing. I'm going to try tomorrow at my local Sprint store. I have already ordered the phone online at Amazon.com, but thanks to the 1-2 week shipping wait, I can still cancel. I rather go with the instore deal cuz 1) I'm in dire need of a new phone quickly 2) no need to make an initial $300 investment. But, first of all I need to make sure I can get the phone in store. I'm doubting it at this point. I hope I have good luck tomorrow. If any1 has any tips on how I should approach the ppl at the Sprint store, I'd appreciate it! =P

OK, maybe someone with experience can answer this question. I am an existing customer, but can't I buy this phone from Amazon, start it up on the cheapest plan sprint has (new line of service), cancel after 1 month, and still get the Amazon rebate?

I just noticed that for the Samsung A460, the amazon rebate is $130, plus $70 from Sprint makes it free ... that's the phone that I want, but I am a Sprint customer right now so I don't know if this would work for me. I really wish it would, I should try it out.

I just got my phone today. That was amazingly fast, I even used the free shipping. Ordered on the 25th and got it on the 28th.

I found a guy at work to use as a referal. he gets $20 and I get $10 for me signing up.

If anyone can't find a referal #, you can PM me. I'm not sure what the regs are on that though.

I just did this. I brought a print out of the Amazon rebate, got 2 phones with $200 off each, plus I passed for the instant rebate for $70, well the guy starts to laugh and tells me that it is now $100 off!!! So I walked out of the store with 2 phones( Sanyo 5150) free! Oh, also if you switch to Sprint as your long distance carrier, they will give 100 minutes free of long distance on your land line phone each month as long as you have SprintPCS, plus another $20 off just for switching. The guy told me that the $30 service credit is no longer a valid promotion, which is ok by me. This was in Jacksonville, Fl, off of Baymeadows Rd, FYI. This will expire on the 30th of June, so tomorrow is the last day.
