Super Quiet HSF Needed....

Well, thanks to the idiots working at the USPS I am forced to switch to air cooling. I had my system H20 cooled, but in shipping, my water block snapped off of the motherboard, ruining my motherboard and waterblock. These are the only things that were noticeabley damaged. I would not be surprised in my hard drives died as well. The screws for the waterblock broke inside the holes, and I have no tools or time to get them out. Also, my case was dented quite severley, but since I have the case modded pretty much the way I like it, I don't feel like getting a new one. Anyway, since I don't have the time or tools required to set up my H20 system again, I will switch to air cooling. I need a super quiet Socket A HSF. Quiet is most important and was the main reason I set up my H20 system in the first place.

Damn that sucks. I'd never trust USPS or UPS. So far Airborne Express and Fedex have been good though.

Alpha PAL8045 with a good fan like an Adda, Panaflow, ect would be my recommendation. I got mine here, they have good prices and nice selection of Adda fans covering the lower to mid CFM range.

ModelM... I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. Won't USPS cover the damge though? Another thing is since I am just getting into this shipping of watercooled PC's.. Your little expirence sorta benefits me. It tells me that I have to come up with a good way of taking the weight off the motherboard during shipping. I mean waterblocks are fricken heavy. I'll have to think of some way to secure the board and waterblock so that the bolts that hold the block down don't get the stress.

I vote for the same combo. It is what I am running right now. It is very quiet and cools great. One thing though, I have my fan set to suck from the heatsink (recommended) so make sure you have an exhaust near it to suck all that hot air out. I have an 80mm (enermax) right next to it in the back, after doing that I dropped 5c temp!

I did have it USPS insured, but in order to collect the insurance I have to take the 40+ pound computer to the post office. I don't own a car, and I really don't know how I'm going to do this.

Sounds like Alpha is the way to go!
