Last time, I spent over an hour filling my basket and placing my order for a large number of different items. When it shipped, every item except one was CANCELLED with no explanation. When I emailed to ask what happened, they responded that they would give me 10% off my next online order if (get this) I called their 800 number after placing the order to request the discount. The entire experience of having wasted my time has totally soured me on ever trying to buy from them again.

dbLA, about your experience... how long ago was it? it sounds like Gap was having problems with their computerized inventory system, judging by what happened to you. I also ordered from gap a while ago, but dont remember my experience. anyhow, the inventory system is most likely fixed by now. I just ordered from banana republic (whose ecommerce system probably is the same as gap's) at its clearance section, which is obviously prone to out-of-stock items, and all of the items which were indeed out of stock were indicated as such when i tried to order them. all my items came and on time, too.

That cancellation happened to me too, with the $9.99 laptop backpack they had on clearance. I even got an order confirmation in the mail, checked my front step each day for a package for 2 weeks, then I finally called and asked WTF! The guy said it was cancelled, OOS, no back order, and I was SOL. That's pretty lame if you ask me. They had all of the data they needed to notify me, they're just too lazy to do it. If they can't track orders to their inventory, even a few days after the fact, their eBiz program's pretty damn weak.

I got my $9.99 laptop backpack 2 weeks ago. Good deal and good backpack. Everything went smoothly. I didn't enter free shipping coupon when I checked out. I called customer service later and they gave me free shipping.

darkfyre, my bad experience was during their online sale on 10/04/00. If I don't hear anything bad this time around, then maybe I'll jump in next time.

I don't see anything new...at least in the men's section.

Looks like the same old stuff for the last couple of weeks and most things are gone.

I got everything I ordered from a couple of weeks ago and I've been very pleased with the quality.
