1) Re-seated all 4 sticks - No change: BIOS still showed 8GB.
2) Removed DIMM #4 - BIOS reported 12GB.
3) Replaced DIMM #3 with the one that used to be in #4 - Still 12GB, good.
4) Added the former #3 into the 4th slot - BIOS showed 16GB.

So, I am good to go after switching DIMMs 3 and 4. I guess I will need to keep an eye on the memory the next couple of weeks to see if it is an intermittent problem.

run memtest overnight, also add a tick of voltage if you are running 4 sticks and your bios allows it.

No, came USPS, but the sticks were in plastic memory housing that couldn't close properly because of size.

Should note, the sticks are working well in my new build.

The memory chips are Micron on the 4 modules I received, can anyone else confirm this as well? So far zero issues and crashing, have not tried overclocking the mem.

I jst had one stick of this memory go bad and take my rig down, took me awhile to figure out what the problem was as I have three of these sticks in my machine; I guess I will get to see how their RMA program works.

There was an article posted a few days ago that expected ram to drop by 20% or more through 2011 as yields have gotten much better. YMMV of course.

DDR3 4GB modules have dropped from about $150+ to $33.50. If you can use the memory, buy it. :biggrin:

ahhh soo good, but its so hard to justify moving to an AM3 setup when no AMD processor gives me a serious boost in gaming compared to a 6000+ in games. If I'm getting 30 fps i'm a happy camper lol.
