Exactly...they've got nothing better to do!!Them oldsters, now that's participation....70% or better. But what else are the oldsters going to do? Die?
Yeah I'm thinking (alleged) nepotism/corruption will make bigger waves than "socialist!!" or "communist!!" will. Maybe it's a generational thing though...I'm in my 30s. Maybe older people really do have nightmares about socialists...? Who knows lolYou don't see the difference between a family-owned potato farm and a VP's son making more in a month than the average American does in a year with zero experience or education related to the job? Again, this is all small shit compared to issues wrt Trump but it's not even in the same realm as a family owned business. This is the kind of shit that Bernie's been railing against, and why people like him.
I mean, I get where it comes from. I just feel like over the last 20 years, the olds have gotten over gays, gotten over people who call themselves men/women/stuff in between, people that look different from them (mostly), hell, to an extent they've even gotten over people of other religions or the super-scary athiests. The Red Scare seems mighty long in the tooth at this point, but what do I know, I'm a 30-something who can read and understands history.Yeah I'm thinking (alleged) nepotism/corruption will make bigger waves than "socialist!!" or "communist!!" will. No, that's communism...Hell let's come up with a fun word for it, maybe tax? We all good with the word tax? Show of hands?
Let's be honest for a second... you weren't going to get Medicare For All anyway even if Sanders gets elected to the presidency. Big pharma and the insurance industry lobbyists own congress, and they'll continue to block any meaningful healthcare legislation passed that would cut into their profits. Hell... they even successfully manipulated Obamacare to improve their bottom line, by making everyone need health insurance and outlawing things like lifetime coverage limits that allowed for cheaper plans.
Sure, all policy negotiations become a compromise when they hit the floors of congress. A Sanders victory would have meant a hard fought healthcare fight and we would have settled for a public option. A Biden victory means bupkis and a smarter right wing populist winning in 2024 and repealing any minor progress on immigration or climate change.
Why not? We can issue EO's to kill people, we can't issue EO's to save people?Medicare for all is a fever dream until Dems take control of all three branches of government. Dems hold the house right now and it means fuck all. Bills go to the senate and die. You can't EO a public healthcare option.
Why not? We can issue EO's to kill people, we can't issue EO's to save people?
I genuinely hope they try to focus on that because no other candidate will have the luxury of such a comically mild thing for their opponents to focus on.
His kid got a cushy job? Who gives a fuck.
Perhaps, but why give him the excuse to say to Biden: "You did the same thing", or one of many variations on the theme? Doesn't even matter how accurate it is, it is a ready-made opportunity for Trump and the republicans to attack. If you dont believe they can do it, and effectively, I would again say, look at what happened in the impeachment hearings.Especially when Trump's various brats got jobs in the WHITE HOUSE despite failing security clearance checks.
They (Ivanka, Jared, Jr and Flunky) have then been running around the world entangling business dealings with political connections.
-Ivankas Chinese patents
-Jared's billion dollar RE bailout from UAE
-Jrs shady RE dealings in India (anyone wonder why Modi showed up to a Trump really in TX?) and the former Soviet blocs in central Asia
-Eric. Lol
I'll say it again, on this issue Trump has plenty to defend, and some point you have to win that fight
Agreed. It is sarcasm. I'm poking fun at some of the silly arguments that Conservatives make on why they are going to vote for Trump again even though they keep saying that don't like his policies. To make the point I exaggerate a bit. But honestly go read some of the arguments they make. They are basically making the argument that we need to find undereducated manual labor people high paying jobs, and that it is unrealistic to expect them to do any training or move.

You think he got it based on his own merits?Hunter going to work for Burisma wasn't Joe's doing. Nepotism not found.
Don't know but there is no evidence Joe had any influence on him getting it.You think he got it based on his own merits?
Joe Biden's personal influence isn't needed for it to be nepotism, if he's riding daddy's last name. Mind you, when I say nepotism, I don't always mean it's this venomous thing, just that a person got the job without real merit thanks to their parentage. That's really what this was.Don't know but there is no evidence Joe had any influence on him getting it.
Like I said in the past, this is a corporate board problem not a Biden problem.
Now Ivanka? And this chick has an actual effect on the country.
But the evidence suggests he did not get that job because of his name, but because he had friends on the board or whatever.Joe Biden's personal influence isn't needed for it to be nepotism, if he's riding daddy's last name. Also, again, very very small potatoes compared to what we're currently dealing with. 10 years ago it'd be scandalous and probably make Joe untouchable by the DNC but it's a brave new world.
And I'm sure the fact he was the son of the former Vice President of the United States had any hand in their decision making. But the evidence suggests he did not get that job because of his name, but because he had friends on the board or whatever.

C'mon, you cannot in good conscious admit that it had nothing to do with it.
Do we really want to go down that path? If so, the entirety of American politics would be suspect. Almost everyone that is in an appointed position is there because "they knew someone".
These days? Actually no.I've just realised how long this thing goes on for!
And this is just to choose the democratic candidate, then you get the campaigning to be president and that election.
How do your politicians do anything except campaign?
