You gotta think this would have been a much bigger deal if it were Saints vs. Pats, Niners vs. Pats , or Packers vs. Pats. All the "powerhouse" teams got knocked out on the NFC side, leaving us with a the Giants, a team that felt like they somehow snuck into to postseason after a mediocre regular season. It just didn't feel as exciting.

You mean a giants team that beat some of the best teams in the NFL fair and square?

Damn, the Niners could've won the SB if they didn't sit Gin for some rookie kick returner.

Grats to the Giants for kicking the Pats' asses again though. Props.

I don't have any faith that the Niners could have won against the Pats

you need an offense that is methodically good enough both on the ground and in the air to keep the ball away from Brady long enough to ensure victory. The 9ers had a good enough defense, but not a good enough offense.

Wow, that mental error on the first offensive play by Brady for the safety turned out to be huge. Yeah, the game would have changed going forward but from just the points, it would have been a 3 point game instead of 4 without the safety.

I thought the game lived up to expectations. Close game down to the final minutes and low scoring, just like the other big Giants-Pats games.

Giants were the better team and dominated most of the game and deserved to win. They were dominating the line for a big part of the night.

Probably would've still been a 4 point game -- keep in mind the Giants went for 2 and missed and had the safety not happened, they would've just gone for the extra point and put them up 4.

Yep that very same team. I'm not saying the giants are a bad team. They just didn't have the hype, the stats, or the records of several other NFC teams. By most measurements, they weren't the best of the NFC. They were undoubtedly the best of the NFC is when it counted though.

The Packers and Saints would've each dropped 40+ on the Pats. The issue with those teams (particularly the Packers) was that they had huge defensive issues and Brady would've been able to put up 30+ at least on the Packers.

The Giants were probably the most balanced team on the NFC side and that's why they made it.

He had one in SB42 and that didn't seem to help.....

Eli was clutch and Manningham was this year's Tyree.

His OL actually blocked very well most of the game, big difference was Giants receivers finding ways to make incredible catches and Pats dropping key ones. Sorry Wes, you've just GOT to make the third down catch in that situation...

Hype? How about Eli Mannings 99 yard TD? Didn't see Rodgers have one. Almost 5000 yards? How many 4th quarter comebacks did the Giants have in the regular season? You're saying that isn't hype?

Welker, Branch, and Hernandez all dropped catches that Brady put right in their hands in the 4th quarter.

Yea Brady played well, the three dropped passes on the desperation drive and Wes dropping that 3rd down were huge. Was a good game overall though.

The thing about the NFL is that injuries determine so much of it. Great teams have injuries to key players and don't make the playoff and sometimes great teams have injuries that make them almost miss the playoffs, then they get some players back and make adjustments to make the playoffs and win the superbowl. The latter happened this year.

Brady's line I think did a better job. Sure, he was sacked some, but on most of the plays, Brady had forever to throw it. You see him taking 10 seconds to find an open guy on almost every play. Eli had to get it out quick every time.

Also anyone else respect Brady even more? Sounds crazy I know but dude hit everyone of his last throws on the money. He can't help it everyone developed a case of the butterfingers.

His last interception was key, though. Even throwing it away could have decided the game. Eli played flawlessly. Eli had faster/better receivers, though.
