I didn't watch the game but the wife gave me the impression that she felt it was the other way around. Wasn't there an obvious pass interference call that was missed by the refs against the Patriots in the second half?

It was decently called. There was a holding called on NY on a 3rd & short that was phantom trying to block Willfork. And then on that TD score to Woodhead there was a BLATENT hold where you can see the Pats lineman having two handfuls of a Giants player jersey ripping him to the ground.

There were a couple passing plays that had questionable contact before the ball got there, but overall it was a good "no-call" game where the only major penalties were execution things like too many men on the field or "illegal huddle" whatever the heck that is.

She sounds like you after a Peyton playoff game.

Not really. If Peyton does something bad, I call him on it though the INT in SB 44 was 50% on Peyton and 50% on Wayne. You Pats fans will blame anyone but Brady. Brady had some drops but he also threw behind receivers on at least two big throws and the safety was mindboggling though Branch may have broken the route the wrong way (in Brady's defense).

And, I will even defend NE's maligned secondary on the Manningham play. They had great position but Eli threw it perfectly and Manningham made a great catch.

Perfectly? It was on Maningham's fingertips, and he pulled it in. Wes's ball was on his hands, and he dropped it.. It goes both ways.

Anyhow, QB's don't win SB's on their own. Football teams win it. You win together and you choke together.

Also, it's too bad you got the wrong Manning on your squad.

Yes, Manning threw it perfectly. He had to get it over 2 Pats defenders who honestly had pretty good position on that play.

Welker dropped the ball and he should've caught it, but it wasn't as easy a catch as you guys are pretending. He had to turn completely around in mid-air to get it. Yes, he still should've caught it but there were other plays (the Hernandez drop and Brady throwing behind Branch) that were worse IMO.

Anyhow, QB's don't win SB's on their own. Football teams win it. You win together and you choke together.

Oh, I agree they don't win them on their own. I've been saying for years that if you have a poor defense, you probably aren't going to win no matter how great your QB is. Pats fans are learning what Colts fans have known for many years.

I'm not sure Eli would've done much more here given the poor defenses. He might have beaten the Saints (Peyton should have), but I don't think he would've won any more SBs than that. Polian blew it here by not keeping the good defensive players we did have and completely ignoring special teams, and that seems to be a mistake Belichick has been repeating as well.

the possible PI cal that they kept replaying was very close and it could have gone either way. Personally, I think it was the right call. The receiver wasn't tugged or jostled in any way before the ball got to him.

It looked like a bad call live, but on reply it looked like the right call to me.

Wes's ball was a hard line drive. Manningham's throw was a soft lobber. Both passes were thrown at the fingertips. What's harder to catch when you're off balance?

Eli did throw it perfectly given the double coverage. Welker's pass was not perfect although he choked. Champions don't choke.

And it wasn't the first beauty that Eli lobbed into him. There was one earlier in the game where Manningham cut too hard to the sideline and Eli dropped it in there perfectly. It was incomplete/out of bounds because of bad positioning on the receivers part.

You know one other thing I started thinking about last night was just how well Welker stacks up against the Giants receivers. Would he even be a starter for the Giants? Or would he be battling Manningham for the #3 spot?

Prop bet info: The Gadorate shower was purple-colored for the first time since 2003, however there was no choice of 'Purple' on any of the prop bets for it, nor was there an 'Other color' selection, so all bettors get their money back.

yes it was perfect. The ball couldnot have been thrown anywhere else, how else do you define perfect.

The throw to welker was a terrible pass. He was wide open and if brady leads him on the other shoulder its a touchdown. Instead he threw to the wrong side forcing him to jump (dude is only 5' 9) and spin and try and bring down the ball.

Woot!! Came in to work this morning and found out I won three of the four winning squares in the office Super Bowl pool. I bought five squares @ $3 per square and came out with $240 for a profit of $225. Guess I'll be buying the beer on our Friday night get together.

Like I said, it was still on his fingertips and the receiver had to pull it in. Great lob and grab, not perfect. Credit to Manningham for a spectacular play, both feet in bounds and all. Like you said, Welker choked. Ball was in hand, he couldn't secure it.

Yes... a soft pass gently onto the fingertips... as far away from 2 defenders to bat away as possible but close enough to pull in. All from 38 yards away and under pressure. If that ain't perfect, I don't know what is.

That is the definition of perfect in that situation. IIRC, Manning was also feeling some pressure when he threw it.

That reads like the rantings of a spoiled kid not getting what he wants. No super bowl ring in 7 years? Ohh boo hoo! Someone call the waaambulance.

Yea it is a tad extreme. I'm a Pats fan, and losing sucks but they played a good game. The plays were there to be made, the Pats just couldn't take advantage of them.

I don't get why some Pats fans are so upset really, last year was supposed to be a "rebuilding year" and we made the playoffs, this year with the "worst defense ever" they make the Superbowl and lose a tight game. Not bad really.

this is why I hate the Pats and their fans. Not all are bastard idiots, obviously, but becoming the spoiled whiny children of a once historically awful franchise is quite obnoxious.

Try being a Redskins fan, god damn it!
