How do I get into Superkart? That's like, my damn dream. Great way to work on skills prior to box or proper open-wheel.

I watched the first five minutes, had a decent feeling I knew the result, skipped to the last minute to enjoy a thrilling final lap.

I love when races are decided in the last lap. It really tends to mean their was, at least at some point, intense battling during the race.

However, is crashing in those more often death than anything else? It certainly looks like crashes will be sloppy messes - those race-car-like speeds but with those tiny kart-like body... yeesh.

Those are a blast. I used to have a couple of 80cc two stroke karts that were capable of 85mph or so. Sold them because I rarely had time to race them

Me too. Looked crazy thrilling thought he manner in which those things scoot to 200KPH they can get in trouble pretty quick.

I did carts as a kid and I have to say its given me a huge leg up driving wise my whole life. I have two carts waiting for my kids when they are old enough. Wife is still pissed I got them.


I wonder if these supercarts are safer than say these were where guys died left and right

Yeah I was impressed he managed to hold that together. I wonder how they handle that from a penalty point of view? Is he allowed to just rejoin or does he have to give up some distance or something?

I totally thought he was going to buy it there too. He screwed the launch both times and was always passed going into the esses before the straight.

Well, they're much slower (only 100 bhp, and they look mostly manageable, even out of shape), and have smaller wheels, that don't bash someone's head in, should they come loose. They're also lighter, which should help scrubbing speed in a spin.
Apart from that, safety wise, I suppose they're pretty similar, but the carts probably race on tracks with different safety levels.
At least a head protection hoop would be something I'd like to have. Flip one of those when getting on the wrong end of a kerb, and you're probably off worse than on a bike.
I'd probably feel safer in a GT Light.

Looked like that kart was starting to get loose on him that last lap or so. We have a couple of old timers who show up with shifter karts at the local autocrosses. They look like a ton of fun. I'd like to get my hands on one someday.
