I cannot find anywhere on Vista Business 64 bit how to find information on what superfetch is doing, how to tweak or modify it, or anything of the sort.

First of all... does every version of vista come with superfetch?

Second... can I force superfetch to always fetch certain applications?

Yes

I'm not sure if there's a way, but the entire point is that it's pretty intelligent and will fetch your most used applications anyways.

Yes n' No

Look, it's like this...

Microsoft is putting a LOT of faith in SuperFetch/ReadyBoost/ReadyDrive.

There is NO WAY in hell that they are going to hand the 'keys to the car' to anybody, and tell them to go have fun!

You can sorta see the RESULTS of SuperFetch by doing a directory listing where the files are stored, but there is NO WAY to extrapolate this into any useful information, or trick the system into doing YOUR will, by constantly opening certain apps, or whatever, if that's what you were thinking about doing...

Bottom line is: Forget about knowing what SuperFetch is doing and/or tweaking it!

Easiest way is to open perf mon and watch the disk monitor section. From what I've experienced it's intelligent enough that for example it'll start loading in a saved game file when you are about to usually run a game in a regular pattern, or at least even if you open the directory that the game is in.

I fear that my usage is too irregular

anyway thanks for the answers. I have already seen the folder that contains some not very useful files associated with superfetch.

I have noticed vista speeding up gradually so I guess it is working.

But, I have plenty of RAM and it would be nice if superfetch did my bidding.
