I just heard of this book. On amazon it has amazing reviews though a few have mentioned how 200+ of them were created almost immediately.

Still, has anybody here tried this book? I am constantly on the lookout to resolve my various nagging injuries--typically tendinosis seems to be my thing and I have read all I can find online about it. I do think I have a lot of weaknesses/imbalances though and none of them get better as I age!

I've heard the name before (I think someone mentioned it in a thread) and it has an amazing name! However, since I judge a book by it's cover, and it doesn't have the most interesting, I haven't read it. =(

I believe in the same thread someone mentioned DDP Yoga, which I am inclined to believe because I loved DDP back during the Monday Night wars. Also, his inspirational stories on his site are, well, inspirational. Plus, as a wrestler, his body was constantly being injured and yoga seemed to actually help him and others with injuries. And if you watch his youtube, you can see a noticeable change in Scott Hall after he was working with him.

Kelly has good ideas and advice, although he does tend to be a little verbose.

I highly recommend Yoga for Regular Guys by DDP.

I actually just purchased this book and wouldn't be able to do it justice since I've just read the first 5 or so pages. I bought it because I was a fan of the MWOD video series on YouTube and like his basic premise and thought for the price it wasn't too bad of a deal if it actually does help with the nagging things that I think we all suffer from.

What I can tell you from thumbing through it is the book seems to be VERY thorough with TONS of illustrations. It's grouped how I was hoping it was going to be by muscle groups and different things to work on for types of lifts (squat, bench, dead, oly stuff, etc.). I'm excited to dig into it in a bit more depth. I'll try to remember and follow up if I do.

Same here. I haven't gone too far into it but it seems like the best way to digest the info is:

read through the info & the pictures
go directly to sections that you want to work on
cross reference his youtube page
... repeat.

Easily the best recovery/mobility items i bought are a roller, lacrosse ball, and a rogue band.

So let's say I don care about bench or squat or whatever but I feel my lower body needs some balance and strengthening to avoid various ailments which may be related to such issues as weak hips--would the book point me suitably in a direction like that? One of the amazon complaints was lack of index and it could be daunting to take the content and throw together a program.

I was like, Diamond Dallas Page? I was going to go post a picture of him on this thread as a joke for misunderstanding the acronym. But it's ACTUALLY Diamond Dallas Page YOGA!! lol.

That is exactly what I thought when I first heard about it. I was like "Wow, that is a stupid acronym, I hope Diamond Dallas Page sues them!" and then I looked and I was shocked.

OK.

So I gave it about an hours worth of reading here. It doesn't have an index per-se, but The book is grouped into three different areas.

The first is how to fix your crappy posture in general and some pretty detailed stuff about mobility and how it relates to your body and performance.

The second is going through a series of different mobility movements (lifts, exercises) and in this part helps you identify what parts of the third section will be useful in resolving that specific issue you're having.

The third section, which you're probably looking for is the systems for addressing the faults that have been identified (the mobility, band and myofascial release stuff).

Based on what you're looking for, I'd say at this time this book is probably not for you and you could probably look at some of his hip mobility exercises and see if you could piece it together from there. Most of the issues he's trying to address are based on the functional movements and not pain management or strengthening. The strengthening and pain management would be a byproduct of implementing these systems, in theory.

That being said, if you are interested in the 'system' as a whole i'd recommend probably picking it up. I haven't got very far but I'm happy with everything in it.

^^ Thanks. If you have any other revelations over it, feel free to share. I think it may still be worth picking up...
