Yeah, I was considering new shoes as an option too ...

If you go for new shoes get fitted and analyzed at a real running store, not Footlocker or some other chain store. Getting into the proper shoes (not just the ones that felt good) made a huge difference for me.

Yup, we have a place called the running room in Minnesota...I might hit them up again. I just got some shoes that were comfy and on sale, haha...I tried running in my flat puma shoes, but it felt a bit hard, as I wasn't used to that running style.

Ah! Just figured out that your typical intake is 10 tablets per day. That makes sense.

Yes 10 tabs a day, 3g of omega 3 per day. The days I eat salmon I don't take my fish oils. I try to eat salmon 2-4x a week.

I eat when I feel hungry, that is the habit I am trying to get into for the last two months ... it seems to have been helping me a lot, especially with portion control. Sometimes I hit 2k, but mostly around 1600-1800....I generally only have some OJ in the morning, and then a 800~ calorie lunch that can range from a salad to my chiptole 800~ cal burrito. Then for dinner it's usually 4 eggs, or some chicken salad.

How would a protein shake help?

Protein shake = protein to help keep your muscle mass and to build some muscle.

Eating when you are hungry is not a good indicator to helping you run. You need to FEED YOUR BODY PROPERLY. But it depends on how serious you take your running? Are your times coming down? Can you do the same run distance with a lower HR? Are the runs becoming easier? If nothing is improving or your happy then so be it good job. But if you want improvement you will have to eat more.

Strength training is another thing A LOT of runners do not do. They just run with no strength training. Strength training is very important if you want to run faster.

Breakfast = no protein
Lunch = maybe 30-50g protein tops
Dinner = 24-26g in the 4 eggs, chicken = 25-40g depending how much chicken you put in, the store bought salads will have less chicken than if you made it yourself

50-90g of protein is not a lot if you weigh 205lbs. But again it depends on how focused you are on improvement and if you are happy.

Yeah, I have noticed I can do the same run, but lower HR, and feeling like it is taking less effort....it's a good feeling. I started about 2 months ago, and when i'd get to a mile, i'd have to walk ... now I can do 5 miles without a hitch, granted it's a 9 minute mile, I can still do it without stopping.

If I get past backgrounds, i'll start weight lifting again, and get another gym membership and get a little more serious about it...especially come winter when I don't want to go outside to run, haha.

There's nothing wrong with a 9 minute mile I guarantee there are a lot of people that wish they could run 5 miles straight at any pace.

Some people can bust out 7:00 mile after mile, but most of us can't (at least not in the last 20 years or so for me). These days it's about getting some exercise and enjoyment. I leave the 7:00 miles for the guys that run shirtless.
