i saw someone mention that they thought the demo didn't include a tutorial, but according to wikipedia, it does. Perhaps the devs didn't spend enough time on the demo, i mean, it seems strange to me that one person actually thought there was no tutorial, but I haven't played the demo.

The demo has a button labeled "tutorial" but it brings you to a SupCom's website with downloadable "tutorial" movies.

Wonder what the ONLINE community will look like with this game. If not many people playing it online, I probably wont buy it.

It came out today right? I really like the demo I think I'll stop by Fry's at lunch. Hopefully they fixed some of the bad AI.

I have a bad feeling about this game!

Yeah, when a game developer gives PC Gamer an exclusive early review, they tend to rate it very high, so I wouldn't put much stock into their ratings.

Yeah and that was on January 3rd before the game was even released.

I have a bad feeling about this game!

Yeah, when a game developer gives PC Gamer an exclusive early review, they tend to rate it very high, so I wouldn't put much stock into their ratings.

IGN gave it an 8.9(UK) and 9.0, with the only bad things being the interface and steep system requirements

Yeah that's the only downsides I've seen so far. It runs kinda choppy on my

Pentium D 820 2.8ghz
1gb OCZ 3200 DDR
Radeon 1300XGE 512MB

I guess it shipped today most stores will have it tomorrow. I keep hearing the retail runs worse than the demo so I think I'll just wait a few days and see whats up.

the retail ran faster than the demo for me

and.. turn down the graphics settings to get it to run faster

Retail usually does that.

When I played the demo of Company of Heroes on my 8500DV, everything was black and I couldn't see jack. I thought my card was jacked up when it indeed met the requirements. Then later, I bought the real deal and it worked!

Yeah, running fine for me. Feels a little sluggish (20fps?) for a couple minutes if I launch straight from desktop into a game. After 2-3 minutes I'm cooking along at probably 40-50fps unless I get several hundred units onscreen at the same time.

I'm digging the game. The zoom has to been seen to be believed. I don't even slide my view around any more. If I want to look elsewhere it's mousewheel back - point - mousewheel in.

I think you have to play the demo long enough to get your theater of operation expanded several times before you'll appreciate it.



For those that quit too early:
If you missed theater expansions you didn't even see the game.
Yes, the first mission in the campaign is slow and deliberate. No base defense needed.
The second mission starts coming at you. (get some air defense up).
Framerate picks up after about 2-3 minutes. Some kinda caching happening.
Grey squares = you spotted it on Radar but haven't actually seen the unit.


I've been running 2-5 monitors at work for years now. I finally found the killer app for a 2nd one at home it seems. This weekend mebe.

I don't understand how someone can love TA and not like SC.

SC is just an updated version of TA on a much larger scale.

Destroyers are awesome!! They push up close to shore and then grow legs and 'crawl' across the land!!

I bought SC last night at best buy but I haven't had a chance to play it. I was in the beta but it was too slow and buggy then. I think it has major potential if the retail runs well.

Speaking only for my self and my system, I can say that the retail runs VERY well.

I HAVE IT!!!!!!

Awesome game. Did one skirmish and a little of the campaign. Both are great. Will do some MP later this weekend. Just as good as Total Annihilation, and even better in some ways.
