Supreme Commander: Severe Artifacting

[*]Full description of the problem and symptoms
Recently installed Supreme Commander Gold Edition. Game is unplayable because of severe graphic artifacting. Screenshot. The game is fully patched. ATI and DirectX drivers are both up to date. Fiddling with graphics options doesn't seem to have any effect. The same artifacts occur on lowest and highest settings. Running as administrator and XP compatibility mode have no effect. Other games continue to work fine.



[*]I already tried these steps:
Running as administrator.
Running in XP compatibility mode.
Setting all graphics settings to low/off.
Running in windowed mode.
dxdiag shows no problems.

• Vista 64 Home Edition Premium, Build 6001: SP1
• ATI Drivers v8.14.0010.0662, dated 4/28/09, DirectX 10

Is Vista up to date? Service Pack 2 is publicly available now.

Try uninstalling, then deleting any residual files, then reinstalling and patching the game.

Done and done, did not fix.

And now I have no sound because of SP2
