Supreme Court May be in Trouble

Here is an article on Chief Justice William Rehnquist and how he had to have a tube inserted in his throat to aid in breathing.

I wonder what happens if he is out of commission and Kerry or Bush wants to have some case heard on an emergency basis???

He's a conservative Justice so the balance would stay the same with a new conservative justice. What we need is for Ruth Bader Ginsberg to retire.

If bush loses or if its a 200 repeat he will resign so bush can try to pound through a new justice.

Ya, thet will happen. Confimations can be held up for a long time and they would with a lame duck. Bush has zero chance to pick if he loses.

Ah, the wonderful filibuster, even if you have a majority, you still can't win.

The point I was going to make is if the Supreme Court is called on to make any kind of a decision it might be difficult to get any answer at all. However, I could see him dragged on a gurney up to the Supreme Court to make his dying act of voting for whomever. Or he could just get better and everything could be fine.

Well Clarence Thomas is certainly worse . . . and arguably more conservative. What we need is another Kennedy, Souter, or O'Connor. Neither the looney left nor right is good for America.
