Working class will suffer the most from gutting of the unions, as has been the case since it has started.

This bothers me because it relies too heavily on correlation as an argument while ignoring basically every other factor.

Correlation does not automatically equal causation.

True, however correlation alone is proof of nothing.

Alone, it is a highly misleading graph that only serves to undermine your argument. It ignores all other factors and serves as mere propaganda and is too easily dismissed as such, thus making people dismiss the issue altogether.

I would say his chart is evidence in favor of the idea that declining labor power has allowed capital to capture more of the economic gains. There seems to be a relationship there and the causal mechanism is plausible.

My biggest problem with that graph is that it uses to different Y-axes with different scales both representing a percentage. (this is clearly done to make the two lines look as if they move together more closely)
